Football St George (FSG)  officially launched the 2021 grassroots season and confirmed it has surpassed 10,000 registered players for the first time in the Associations history.

FSG Directors, sponsors, Club committee members, players, coaches, referees and parents were on hand to celebrate the occasion.

FSG CEO, Craig Kiely, was excited for season to start and thrilled with the growth of the game in the region.

“The start of the grassroots season is always fun and to be able to confirm that registration numbers have now passed the 10,000 across the district is very special.

“It is an historic moment for football in St George and is credit to everyone involved in the game, both past and present.

“It is also no coincidence that the drive we have had to develop and improve football facilities in the district is now resulting in record numbers of participants in the game.” Kiely stated.

In announcing the achievement, the Association reflected on the great work being done by its affiliated clubs and their volunteers in driving the game forward in our region.

The Association also acknowledged the support received from both the State and Federal government in recent years and the ongoing support from it local councils, Georges River and Bayside.

FSG would like to thank the following guests who attended the season kick-off event:

  • Federal Member for Banks, David Coleman
  • State Member for Oatley, Mark Coure
  • George’s River Council Mayor, Kevin Greene and Deputy Mayor, Stephen Agius
  • Bayside Council Deputy Mayor, James McDonald
