Storage is king for community clubs
All community football clubs across the state understand the importance of storage.
It is for this reason that Manly Warringah Football Association (MWFA) and Northern Beaches Council have teamed up assist clubs in providing addition space for local clubs.
The partnership between Northern Beaches Council and MWFA has resulted in the two parties splitting the cost 50:50 for the storage sheds.
The storage sheds on average cost $15,000 to construct pending size which is determined by the available space on the outside of an existing amenities building.
“Storage space is a key issue for our clubs so we have worked with Northern Beaches Council to identify the clubs that have a shortage of storage space, particularly at their home venues,” said MWFA Chief Executive Officer, David Mason.
“We have worked through the logistics of building the storage shed against appropriate amenities buildings with Council, so they blend into the existing infrastructure”
The storage sheds have been installed at Boondah Reserve (pictured) home of the Narrabeen FC and Wyatt Oval home of the Belrose Terrey Hills Raiders so far.
Beacon Hill FC is next in line to receive a storage shed at Tristram Road Reserve.
“During the consultation period for our NSW Football Infrastructure Strategy both local councils and associations identified storage as being a priority and the need to increase levels of storage provision,” said Football NSW Manager – Government Relations, Funding and Infrastructure Daniel Ristic.
“Unfortunately, many of the amenity buildings in the football community were built some 30 or 40 years ago where either no storage was provided, or small spaces were built.”
Large storage spaces are now a necessity for all community clubs to function. Clubs now store goals of different sizes for different junior age groups, speed and agility equipment and much, much more.
The partnership between MWFA and Northern Beaches Council is set to continue into 2022 with further venues to be identified by both parties.
