Football Fever set to hit Forbes
The Botanical Gardens Sporting Grounds in Forbes will be caught up in football fever as the Forbes District Soccer Club in conjunction with the Forbes Shire Council will be hosting a massive gala day promoting the world game in the popular country town on Saturday 23rd of September.
The main event will feature a preseason Liberty A-League Women’s friendly between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Canberra United kicking off at 3pm as both teams look set to fight for their first piece of silverware in 2023 with the Forbes Challenge Cup on offer.
Prior to the main event, several matches have also been announced with games featuring some of the region’s up and coming stars from Lachlan United, Dubbo Districts FA and Canberra Croatia all taking part in various age groups spanning from the U10’s, U12’s and U14’s.
The public will also get an opportunity to witness the Under 14 and Under 16 Football NSW Country Girls train for the upcoming National Championships as part of the football festival on the day.
This event was originally scheduled in October 2022 but was postponed due to the floods that ravaged the town of Forbes.
