Ameena Kanj designs 2024 Football NSW’s NAIDOC Cup Jerseys

Talented twenty-year-old Ameena Kanj’s design has been selected by the Football NSW Indigenous Advisory Group as the 2024 NAIDOC Cup playing strip for the First Nations tournament which commences on Wednesday the 10th of July on Awabakal Land at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.

The talented proud Dharug youngster, who is of both Aboriginal and Lebanese heritage hailing from Greater Western Sydney, was honoured to have played a pivotal role in honouring the Indigenous community with these quality designs.

“I am absolutely honoured and grateful that my design was selected for this year’s NAIDOC Cup celebrations, and I am really looking forward to seeing these kits come to life on match day,” said Kanj.

The new designed jersey will be unearthed at this year’s NAIDOC Cup which will be a three-day event from Wednesday 10th July to Friday 12th July and coincides with NAIDOC Week, a national week held in July that celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

In its third year, the 2024 NAIDOC Cup promises to be the biggest one yet as the tournament continues to grow in popularity and stature.

Football NSW is hoping to take home the NAIDOC Cup title for the third successive year following triumphs in 2022 and 2023.

The tournament will be live-streamed on Bar TV. Stay tuned for more updates and join us in supporting our First Nations players as they represent Football NSW at this year’s NAIDOC Cup.

Football NSW and Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) will enter once again enter male and female teams in the under-14s and under-16s age groups, with squads made up of First Nations players. The tournament will also engage First Nations coaches and referees from across the state.

The NAIDOC Cup continues to be supported by the Football Legacy Program, a $10 million investment from the NSW Government to continue the develop of football in NSW since the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
