League ONE Womens Preview Round 20

Round 20 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition is a smorgasbord of football which might help to shake out the top four spots.

There are seven games to look over this weekend including first against second and the Match of the Round between St George FC and Hills United FC.

Match of the Round: St George FC vs Hills United FC, Sunday 14 July, 3:10pm, 5sports

St George FC face off against Hills United FC in their game down at 5sports on Sunday afternoon.

The Saints were 1-0 winners against Marconi Stallions FC played at Marconi Stadium last weekend.

Custodian Caitlin Russell had her third clean sheet in six games for St George FC to get ready for this game.

Paris Alcorn started her first game this season for St George FC and gives them another attacking option up front.

Hills United FC suffered a 2-1 loss to Bankstown City Lions FC at Bella Vista Public School last weekend.

Their last two results has thrown Hills United FC right back into the fight for a top four spot headed into this game.

Isabella Sciberras was their lone goal scorer in the loss and her combination with Kaylie Shannon will be vital to their success.

This game will be streamed on the Football NSW YouTube under the LIVE tab. It will be Matt “Duckman” Austin in a game which has top billing this weekend.

Central Coast Mariners FC vs South Coast Flame FC, Sunday 14 July, 3pm, Pluim Park

Central Coast Mariners FC host South Coast Flame FC down at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Mariners had a come from behind 2-1 win against Camden Tigers FC also at Pluim Park last weekend.

Coach Dan Barrett will have to rotate and freshen up his squad in the upcoming busy period for the Mariners.

Claire Denning continued her goal scoring form with the opener which takes her to seven goals for the season.

South Coast Flame FC had their game against South East Phoenix FC in Nowra washed out last weekend.

The Flame will be refreshed for their trip to the coast and exact some revenge after losing 1-0 to the Mariners back in Round 7.

They will look to Emily Kostovski and swiss army knife Sariah Wilson to push them forward on Sunday.

Bankstown City Lions FC vs Inter Lions FC, Sunday 14 July, 3pm, Jensen Park

Bankstown City Lions FC welcome Inter Lions FC to Jensen Park for their game on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions were 2-1 winners against Hills United FC in an exciting clash at Bella Vista Public School last Sunday.

It is a busy weekend for Bankstown City Lions FC who have their mid-week catch up against Camden Tigers on Thursday night.

Both Zali Dean and Claire Witton have been dependable starting players for the Lions throughout the 2024 season.

Inter Lions FC were beaten 8-0 by the League One Women’s leaders Mt Druitt Town Rangers last weekend.

The Lions face another tough task this weekend against a contender but hope for an improved performance.

Camden Tigers FC vs Marconi Stallions FC, Sunday 14 July, 3pm, Ron Dine Reserve

Camden Tigers FC take on Marconi Stallions FC in their game at Ron Dine Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers took the lead before they fell to a 2-1 loss to Central Coast Mariners FC at Pluim Park last weekend.

Samantha Cefai has scored in back-to-back games for Camden Tigers and she is aiming to make it three in a row on Sunday.

Camden Tigers have a pair of home games this week which they hope to put together two strong performances.

Marconi Stallions FC battled hard in their 1-0 loss to finals chasing St George FC at Marconi Stadium.

The Stallions have developed throughout the 2024 season and look to finish the campaign with a few more wins.

Charmaine Marquinez has been an integral member of the Stallions midfield and she will drive them forward again on Sunday.

South East Phoenix FC vs Nepean FC, Sunday 14 July, 3:15pm, South Nowra Football Complex

South East Phoenix FC face off against Nepean FC down at South Nowra Football Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The Phoenix had their game against South Coast Flame FC washed out last weekend due to another deluge of rain.

These two sides played out a stalemate in their Round 7 encounter so South East Phoenix FC look to get three points.

Leading the way for South East Phoenix FC is captain Peta Cottingham and the skipper looks to lead them to another strong home performance.

Nepean FC featured in the Match of the Round and were beaten 3-0 by Sutherland Strikers FC last weekend.

Gemma Morgan was a threat for Nepean FC up front and she will hope to find the back of the net on Sunday.

Custodian Evangelina Papalia was a standout for Nepean FC in the defeat with some fantastic saves and she will be ready for another big performance.

SD Raiders FC vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC, Sunday 14 July, 3:30pm, Ernie Smith Reserve

SD Raiders FC take on Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC in a top of the table clash at Ernie Smith Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts surged back in the last ten minutes to win 4-3 against Blacktown City FC at Landen Stadium.

Isabella Sultan scored the opening goal in the contest and she will be a livewire down the wing again on Sunday.

SD Raiders FC handed the Town Rangers one of their two losses this season and look to repeat the dose at home.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC thumped Inter Lions FC 8-0 in their game at Popondetta Park last weekend.

Leena Khamis had an afternoon out with five goals in the win which takes her to 17 goals for the League One Women’s campaign.

The Town Rangers can take a huge step towards the title if they can get three points against the second place side on Sunday afternoon.

Blacktown City FC vs Sutherland Strikers FC, Sunday 14 July, 4pm, Landen Stadium

Rounding off the weekend is Blacktown City FC hosting Sutherland Strikers FC at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Blacktown City FC were beaten 4-3 in a pulsating game against high flying SD Raiders FC last weekend.

Claire Szymoniczek has three goals in the last two games for Blacktown City FC and will look to find the back of the net again.

The hosts have had a pair of heartbreaking late goals against them so they will be ready for a full 90 minute performance.

Sutherland Strikers FC won 3-0 against Nepean FC in the Match of the Round at Harrie Denning Centre.

All three of the Strikers mid-season signings were on the scoresheet in the result and have helped the side rise up the ladder.

They have won three on the bounce and aim to make it four against another side which beat them in their previous contest.
