State League Division 1 Round 7 Preview
Arlington Oval is a fortress for Dulwich Hill, and they will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run when they host Sydney Wanderers on Saturday night at 7-30pm.
Dully?s three draws have meant six dropped points, and has put them just behind the top three. No doubt another clean sheet by Sestak will stop Dully from losing, but more importantly, they will hoping the experience of Bove and James can produce goals at the other end.
Nothing but a win will do for the traveling Wanderers, otherwise they risk losing touch with the leading pack, so expect some end to end entertainment in this match up.
Mounties FC will be favourites to take three points when they host Hurstville ZSC at Cook Park, Mt Pritchard, on Saturday evening, kicking off at 7-30pm.
Despite last week?s setback against the Scorpions, where they suffered their first loss of 2009, Mounties FC have a couple of games in hand, and will be confident against Hurstville ZSC, who have yet to register a win this year, and are desperate to get off the bottom of the ladder.
Stanmore Hawks and Schofields Scorpions shapes up as a real beauty on Sunday afternoon at Arlington Oval, kicking off at 3-00pm.
The Hawks will be brimming with confidence after a thumping victory over Balmain last weekend propelled them into the top half of the ladder.
But Schofields are a formidable opponent for any team in 2009, and their win over Mounties means they are back on track and looking for another scalp this weekend.
A derby of some sorts will take place at Concord Oval, also on Sunday at 3-00pm, when the resurgent Inter Lions host Balmain SC.
Inter have consolidated their second position in the competition, and sent a real warning out to fellow title aspirants that they mean business with a 5-0 away win against Hills last week.
On paper, Balmain SC do have a mountain to climb if they are to get anything from his match. But with each weekend passing, they are closer and closer to that inaugural win in Division One, and stranger things have happened in football.
David Phillips Field on Sunday will see two teams at the wrong end of the ladder do battle, as UNSW host Hills Brumbies.
UNSW have been knocking on the door for their first three points of the season, with some close results of late, and are anxious for that elusive win that will take them above their opponents.
Hills will be smarting from last week?s spanking at the hands of Inter, so no doubt would have focused on forgetting that game and looking towards a positive result themselves this weekend at 3pm.
In the final match of the round, the competition leaders visit Norford Park on Sunday afternoon at 3pm as Fairfield City Lions host Blacktown Spartans.
Fairfield City didn?t play last weekend, so will fresh for the visit of the undefeated Spartans, who have had a fantastic start to the year and will be hoping to skip away further in top spot with yet another win.
