Round 11 Preview – League One Women’s

Round 11 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition sees the campaign head towards a busy time in the season with the Sapphire Cup competition in full swing.

It will be vital for all 13 clubs to pick up points in their games this weekend including our Match of the Round between Central Coast Mariners FC and Hills United FC.

Let’s get onto the preview.

Match of the Round: Central Coast Mariners FC vs Hills United FC, Sunday 11 May, 5pm, Pluim Park

Central Coast Mariners FC take on Hills United FC in the Match of the Round at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Mariners comes into this game off a 4-1 success against Blacktown Spartans FC in Rooty Hill last weekend.

Nicola O’Driscoll has chipped in with some important goals for Central Coast this season and she will be keen to find the back of the net again on Sunday.

It is finally we hope this time – home sweet home for the Mariners. They will want to put on a show for both the camera and their home fans.

Hills United FC were 2-0 winners against Bankstown City Lions FC at Valentine Sports Park last weekend.

The league leaders are the only side in the competition left undefeated and can use it as a good platform for the title.

Jess Wootton fired home a brace in the win and she has been lethal in front of goal since transferring to the ‘Women of the Hills’.

This game will be streamed LIVE on the Football NSW YouTube channel. The ‘Voice of Central Coast Football’ Pete Prior will be behind the microphone for the clash.

SD Raiders FC vs Blacktown City FC, Sunday 11 May, 3pm, Ernie Smith Reserve

SD Raiders FC take on Blacktown City FC playing at the Ernie Smith Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts triumphed in the Match of the Round 1-0 against local rivals Marconi Stallions FC at Marconi Stadium.

Goal scorer Tenealle Hay has been energetic down the flanks for SD Raiders FC since her signing in the off-season.

Otherwise, Madeleine Malone and Erin Phelan have been two consistent performers for SD Raiders FC this season.

Blacktown City FC were the odd side out in Round 10 of the League One Women’s competition and had the bye.

Jasmine Stretton was a goal scorer in their last game and she will be ready to find the back of the net again.

Blacktown City FC also have their Sapphire Cup tie against Austral Soccer Club at Landen Stadium on Wednesday night.

St George FC vs Blacktown Spartans FC, Sunday 11 May, 4:30pm, Barton Park

St George FC face off against Blacktown Spartans FC in their game at Barton Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Saints were beaten 1-0 by South Coast Flame down at Kembla Grange last Saturday afternoon.

Janan Codmani is a good weapon for St George FC and her knack for finding goals will be important on Sunday.

AT the back both keeper Caitlin Russell and defender Nicole Besz will look to keep a clean sheet against the Spartans.

Blacktown Spartans FC lost 4-1 to Central Coast Mariners FC at Blacktown Football Park last Sunday.

Danielle Keller was their goal scorer in the defeat with her maiden goal and ready to fire again against a contender.

It is a big week for the Spartans who face Nepean FC in the Sapphire Cup at Blacktown Football Park on Wednesday night.

Sutherland Strikers FC vs South Coast Flame FC, Sunday 11 May, 4:30pm, Harrie Denning Centre

Sutherland Strikers FC take on South Coast Flame FC at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Strikers were beaten 3-1 by a professional Inter Lions FC side at Majors Bay Reserve last Sunday afternoon.

Grace Considine scored their lone goal in the defeat and she will be keen to find the back of the net again.

Custodian Chantelle Symes returned to the club and the A League Women’s shot stopper experience will be great for the young side.

South Coast Flame FC had a well deserved 1-0 win against St George FC down at Sir Ian McLennan Park.

It was a statement win for South Coast Flame FC who moved into the League One Women’s top four.

They will want to back that up with another win and Molly Lawless will be pivotal to that for them on Sunday.

Camden Tigers FC vs Bankstown City Lions FC, Sunday 11 May, 5pm, Ron Dine Reserve

Camden Tigers FC welcome Bankstown City Lions FC to Ron Dine Reserve for their game Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers battled to a 1-1 draw against Nepean FC in their game at Cook Park last Sunday afternoon.

Chantelle Bernard scored her third goal the campaign to earn the point and she has provided vital points thus far in 2025.

The Tigers have enjoyed a solid last month in the competition and will be looking for three points on the weekend.

Bankstown City Lions were beaten 2-0 against league leaders Hills United FC at Valentine Sports Park last weekend.

Stephanie Ambrose leads from the front for the Lions and she will be a danger on set pieces again in this game.

Another mainstay in the side, Chelsea Greguric will lead the line and look to add to her tally of five goals for the season.

Marconi Stallions FC vs Inter Lions FC, Sunday 11 May, 5pm, Marconi Stadium

Marconi Stallions FC face off against Inter Lions FC down at Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Stallions went down by a single goal against SD Raiders FC in last week’s Match of the Round.

Despite the loss, Charmaine Marquinez shone for the Stallions with some key chances in the game.

Pene Bonovas returned to the starting line-up which will boost Marconi Stallions FC attack as they search for goals.

Inter Lions FC were 3-1 winners against Sutherland Strikers FC in their game at Majors Bay Reserve last Sunday.

Ella Martins scored the second goal for Inter Lions FC in a win their coach John Di Biase called their best of the season.

Up front, Kiara Coscia found the opener and her combination alongside Paola Andrea Giraldo Uribe will be key on Sunday.

Sapphire Cup Update

There is plenty of mid-week action for League One Women’s sides who still remain in the Sapphire Cup. We will give a quick mention for Inter Lions FC who exited the Sapphire Cup after their 2-1 loss to Lindfield FC last Thursday.

Looking towards this week’s fixtures, there are seven L1 Women’s sides who will look to progress to the next round. There are two all L1 Women’s fixtures with Blacktown Spartans FC hosting Nepean FC while Central Coast Mariners FC welcome league leaders Hills United FC to Pluim Park – these are both being played on Wednesday night.

Otherwise, Blacktown City FC host Austral Soccer Club also on Wednesday night. Moving to Thursday night, St George FC are handed a tough tie travelling to The Village Green to face NPL NSW Women’s side UNSW FC and South Coast Flame FC head to Heffron Park to take on Coogee United FC.
