State League Division 1 Round 15 Preview
The Dully machine keeps on motoring ahead, and they?ll need to continue to do so given they have Blacktown Spartans breathing down their neck, only a point behind.
Balmain SC have fallen to tenth spot on the ladder after some recent disappointments, so they?ll be hoping they can turn their fortunes around by making a concerted 90-minute effort this weekend.
The only other match on Saturday night, also kicking off at 7-30pm, is the clash between Mounties FC and Hills Brumbies at Cook Park.
The home side are sitting comfortably in fifth spot on the ladder, five points ahead of their nearest rivals, and another three points will go a long way towards consolidating their finals position, even at this early stage.
Hills will be looking to climb off the bottom rung of the competition ladder, but will need to be at their best to prevent a Mounties onslaught.
UNSW will be keen to continue their rich form of late with yet another win, this time against Sydney Wanderers at David Phillips Field on Sunday, starting at 3-00pm.
Three points here will see UNSW climb as much as three positions, if results go their way, a far cry from where they were sitting a few weeks ago.
The Wanderers will need to escape a loss in order to avoid their opponents leapfrogging them, and will hope to duplicate their narrow victory of last weekend.
Hurstville ZSC will have to do a lot better than last Sunday?s effort against the Wanderers if they are to avoid a potential beating against high flying Blacktown Spartans.
The match at Hurstville Oval will kick off at 3-00pm, with the Spartans keen to keep up the pressure on Dully at the top end of the competition, and with Jajaw and Cornett firing on all cylinders, the home side will find it very tough going indeed.
Schofields Scorpions will be looking to be get their assault on the championship back on track when they visit Norford Park to tackle Fairfield City Lions at 3-00pm on Sunday.
After some inconsistent performances of late, Schofields need the three points to stay in touch with the leaders, but the experience of Issa and Codmani will prove a big obstacle to overcome, and a win for Fairfield will keep them on track for a late season push towards the semis.
The final match of the round will be played on Sunday evening at 7-00pm at Arlington Oval, with Stanmore Hawks entertaining Inter Lions in an inner west derby.
After some poor form in recent matches, the Hawks will need to win if they are serious about mounting a challenge for finals football, sitting currently in sixth position on 16 points.
But Inter Lions have hit their straps of late, climbing to fourth on 24 points, and they will be a tough proposition for Stanmore come Sunday night.
