Position Vacant – CEO Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association
Granville and Districts Soccer Football Association (GDSFA) is looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead us through the next phase of our development.
GDSFA has a long and proud history and is recorded as the oldest football association in Australia dating back to its inception in 1890 and to the first formal competition in 1902. In 2016, GDSFA is associated with many football competitions, notably the Association winter competition which has 26 Clubs from the surrounding Districts with in excess of 10,000 players. These players compete in regular competitions managed for male and female players from U6 to our O45 competitions. GDSFA is a valued member of Football NSW and its member Clubs also compete in Football NSW sanctioned competitions.
GDSFA has a Representative arm as well with Parramatta FC who compete in the NSW Premier League in U18, U20 and First Grade, as well as, Premier Youth League for the U12, U13, U14 and U15 age groups for the male players. Parramatta FC also enters teams in the Football NSW Women’s State League for U13, U15, U17 and All Age Women. In the SSG age groups, GDSFA enters a Girls GDSFA Skills Acquisition Program for the U10 and U12 age groups as well as Parramatta FC Skills Acquisition Program for mixed U9, U10, U11 and U12 age groups.
The Association is structured with a Board of Directors responsible for strategy and governance of its operations and supported by the Chief Executive Officer and a number of committees covering the various functions, with assistance and direction from its member Clubs and staff.
POSITION DESCRIPTION – CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
PURPOSE:
To provide the leadership and management skills necessary to achieve the vision of Granville and Districts Soccer Football Association by contributing to and then executing our strategy to grow Football and make our code the dominant force in the region.
REPORTS TO:
GDSFA Board
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DUTIES
· Develop a professional and inclusive culture within GDSFA and with GDSFA stakeholders.
· Provide significant input into the GDSFA strategic plan, then develop and execute appropriate supporting business plan and reporting regime (including measurement against agreed goals) to be utilised at the Board’s monthly meetings.
· Work with the GDSFA Board and Member Clubs to address the recommendations of the FNSW Working Group and ensure they are adequately addressed in the agreed GDSFA Business Plan.
· Set and manage appropriate performance goals and standards for GDSFA staff to support the business plan, including developing existing staff, hiring new staff or terminating existing staff where appropriate.
· Ensure appropriate controls, policies, reporting and monitoring mechanisms are in place across all elements of corporate governance.
· Establish strong relationships with all key stakeholders, including developing and implementing communication strategies both internally and externally to not only ensure timely flow of relevant information, but to ensure GDFSA’s image and reputation is at all times presented in a professional, consistent and favourable light.
· Build strong relationships with GDSFA Councils to ensure optimal information flow and cooperation and alignment for Member Clubs.
· Provide significant input into budgeting process and then ensure efficient and effective processes are in place to ensure compliance with budget and timely, relevant financial reporting to the Board.
· Develop and implement marketing and business plans to maintain and increase revenues from existing operations and to develop new business opportunities.
· Actively seek and secure appropriate grants and develop and implement a sponsorship strategy that will enhance existing sponsorships and attract new sponsors and partners.
· Ensure all legislative and regulatory requirements are met.
· Prepare Board agendas, collate, prepare and distribute materials, attend Board meetings and take minutes.
DESIRED COMPETENCIES
· Demonstrated experience in working in a leadership role in sporting administration.
· Demonstrated commercial and financial proficiency, including business development.
· Stakeholder management and relationship building, particularly in a grassroots sporting environment.
· Experience in obtaining and managing sponsorships and grants.
· Willingness to work weekends and non-traditional hours as required.
· Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing a diverse range of customers.
· Excellent presentation and communication skills.
· Knowledge and understanding of sporting club structures.
