Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s Grand Final Review
The Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition has concluded with a wonderful Grand Final contest to wrap up a fantastic season.
It was Sydney Futsal Club who were crowned Champions after their 5-0 win.

SD Raiders Futsal 0 defeated by Sydney Futsal Club 5
Sydney Futsal Club won 5-0 against SD Raiders Futsal at The Centre – Dural on Saturday afternoon.
SD Raiders Futsal were unable to complete the double after they were crowned Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s Premiers. Their best chances in the defeat fell to Abigail Boag and Miriam Zumaya.
For Sydney Futsal Club, it caps off a fantastic season for the club which has ended with them eligible for promotion. Ashley Limnios and Mia Nataly gave them a 2-0 lead at the break then Abbey Harrison and Golden Boot Cynthia Coghlan tallied alongside an own goal.
The game started at a frantic pace from the opening minute. Naomi Nguyen struck wide for Sydney Futsal Club.
SD Raiders Futsal responded with their own chance from Jessica Neville. She unfurled a strike which Sydney Futsal Club custodian Natalie Milenkovic tipped onto the bar.
Most of the early running fell for Sydney Futsal. Nguyen shot wide again then Liana Calabro punched an effort now.
Miriam Zumaya was the outlet for SD Raiders Futsal. She went close twice on the counter then had another punched away.
Nguyen went closest to the opener for Sydney Futsal. She struck the woodwork then cut inside a defender and shot over.
SD Raiders Futsal found their rhythm. Isabella Sultan hit the post then Ellie-Leigh Lontis dragged a shot wide.
Sydney Futsal Club made it 1-0 in the 14th minute. Ashley Limnios wriggled free from a defender then fired home.
Zumaya went inches from an equalizer from a set piece. She fizzed in a free-kick from deep which needed to be handled.
Sydney Futsal Club doubled their delight in the 18th minute. Cynthia Coghlan provided the pass for Mia Nataly to tap home for 2-0.
Once again, Zumaya proved dangerous from a set piece. She unfurled a long range strike which had to be tipped over by Milenkovic.
Leading 2-0, Sydney Futsal Club kept their foot on the pedal to start the second half. Coghlan tried one from a tight angle then Charlotte Heath hit the post.
They made it 3-0 in the 24th minute from an Abbey Harrison rocket. She found space on the right and drove through the ball to singe the net.
Quickly, it was 4-0 in the 25th minute. It was a smart combination move which ended with Coghlan turning home for her 27th of the season.
Sydney Futsal Club were running rampant and made it 5-0 in the same minute. Another slick move ended with it being rolled home by a defender.
Milenkovic was determined to keep a clean sheet alongside the trophy. She made a pair of fantastic saves on Lontis and Sultan in quick succession.
SD Raiders Futsal pushed forward for a consolation. Zumaya snatched a ball then shot wide then Abigial Boag poked straight.
They pushed until the final whistle which was admirable. Neville had a strong effort pushed wide followed by Dione King being denied from close range.
King played a pivot role late, as SD Raiders Futsal tried to find her one-on-one with Milenkovic but she couldn’t sweep home.
Sydney Futsal Club saw out the last few minutes and were crowned Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s Champions.
Post match, SD Raiders Futsal coach Matias Paz reflected on the effort from his side in a strong season:
“It was a tough game between two strong sides. The girls tried their best and we wanted to break them mentally. They took their chances but it was a good season from our girls overall despite the defeat.” said Paz.
For Sydney Futsal Club coach John Jiggins, he reflected on a wonderful year for both his side and the club:
“We had a game plan which was to press hard and get our rewards. The girls carried it out perfectly and ended the season. Next year will be tough but we can reflect on what has been a good year for us.” said Jiggins.
