Round 26 Preview – League One Women’s
We head into the final weekend of the Football NSW League One Women’s season with the Premiership still up for grabs between UNSW FC and Central Coast Mariners.
There are seven games to enjoy in Round 26 across the weekend highlighted by UNSW FC and Blacktown City FC in the Match of the Round.
Let’s get onto the preview.
Match of the Round: UNSW FC vs Blacktown City FC, Sunday 3 September, 3pm, The Village Green
Current leaders UNSW FC welcome Blacktown City FC down to The Village Green for their game on Sunday afternoon.
The students inched closer to the title last week after their closely fought 2-1 win over Marconi Stallions at Valentine Sports Park.
Isabella Stinziani has become a super sub for UNSW FC with back-to-back goals and might offer the punch they need late in the game.
UNSW FC know that three points will see them crowned League One Women’s Premiers so they will be ready for the game.
Blacktown City FC were unleashed in their 5-1 win over Inter Lions down at Landen Stadium last weekend.
It was a game that coach David O’Keefe had waited for, Blacktown City FC able to turn their chances into goals in a frustrating season.
A key figure in that was Alyse-May McCutcheon. She found the back of the net twice and continued her strong combination with Jenny Hughes.

South Coast Flame FC vs Central Coast Mariners, Saturday 2 September, 3:15pm, Elizabeth Park
South Coast Flame FC host Central Coast Mariners in round 30 action at Elizabeth Park on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts warmed up for this game with their sixth win in a row in a 1-0 win over Mt Druitt Town Rangers last weekend.
While South Coast Flame FC’s campaign ends on Saturday, they can still play a big part in the destination of the League One Women’s Premiership.
Striker Bronte Trew will look to add a few more goals to her impressive goal tally, which will help cement her position in the Golden Boot standings.
Central Coast Mariners won 4-1 against Sutherland Shire FA down at Harrie Denning Centre last weekend.
The Mariners missed a chance to go back to the top after their 2-1 midweek loss to SD Raiders FC in their catch-up game.
Captain Kaitlin Murphy led the way with a pair of goals in last week’s win and will look to repeat the dose and help them to some silverware.
Sutherland Shire FA vs SD Raiders FC, Sunday 3 September, 3pm, Kareela Oval #3
Sutherland Shire FA take on SD Raiders FC at Kareela Oval #3 for their final game of the season on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts were beaten by title chasers Central Coast Mariners 4-1 at Harrie Denning Centre last weekend.
They won’t want to finish the season with three losses in a row and look to pick up three points to move closer to the top half of the League One Women’s ladder.
Sutherland Shire FA have plenty of talented youth in the side including Violet Keelan that will aim to finish their season finding the back of the net.
SD Raiders FC got back in the winner’s circle with their 3-2 win over South East Phoenix FC down in Nowra and a midweek upset win over Central Coast Mariners.
The visitors can finish as high as seventh with a win and Bojan Radmilo will have the side ready to put in one last strong performance.
Abigail Boag found the back of the net twice in their win last week and she will want to add to her tally of five goals on the weekend.
Inter Lions vs South East Phoenix FC, Sunday 3 September, 3pm, Majors Bay Reserve
Inter Lions face off against South East Phoenix FC in their game at Majors Bay Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions battled hard in their 5-1 defeat to Blacktown City FC in their final away game at Landen Stadium last weekend.
They will look to reverse the result from their Round 13 clash which saw South East Phoenix FC win 3-1 and end their campaign on a high.
Inter Lions will look to move themselves off the bottom of the ladder with a win and look to striker Riley Dennis to find the back of the net.
South East Phoenix FC were on the losing end of a pulsating 3-2 loss against SD Raiders FC at South Nowra Football Complex.
It has been a tough back end of the season for the Phoenix and they will want to finish the season with their fifth win.
Up top, they have Madison Cater and Amanda Carney as a strike partnership which will cause trouble for the Lions defence.
Camden Tigers vs Nepean FC, Sunday 3 September, 3pm, Ron Dine Reserve
Camden Tigers host Nepean FC in their game down at Ron Dine Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers were beaten 4-1 in their game against St George FC played at Ilinden Sports Centre last weekend.
If the Tigers can get a win on Sunday afternoon, they will beat their points total from their 2023 campaign (12).
They will look to top goal scorer Kristy Rohrer who found the back of the net last weekend alongside Ashlee Taff to secure the result.
Nepean FC featured in the Match of the Round last weekend against Hills United FC which saw them lose 1-0.
The visitors were in the finals hunt for a long time in 2023 and look to make it double digit wins for the campaign on Sunday afternoon.
They will look to Olivia De La Harpe and Ella Goodwin to help drive them forward and provide some goals to end their season on a high.
Marconi Stallions vs St George FC, Sunday 3 September, 3:05pm, Marconi Stadium
Marconi Stallions take on St George FC in their final games down at Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Stallions put in a spirited display in their 2-1 defeat to leaders UNSW FC at Valentine Sports Park last weekend.
The club confirmed earlier this week that Michael Beauchamp will take over coaching duties in 2024 so the Stallions will want to see Andy Severin off with a win.
Marconi Stallions have built their game on their defence this season and their back four alongside custodian Yoshimi Miki will look to repel the Saints potent attack.
St George locked in their top four spot after a comfortable 4-1 win over Camden Tigers at Ilinden Sports Centre last weekend.
The Saints rode out a mid-season bump to pile up wins which has helped them feature in the finals after just missing out last season.
They will look to the versatile Jaslyn Moore who has contributed important goals in recent weeks to add further to her tally on Sunday.
Hills United FC vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers, Sunday 3 September, 3:45pm, Bella Vista Public School
Rounding off the regular season is Hills United FC hosting Mt Druitt Town Rangers at Bella Vista Public School on Sunday afternoon.
Hills United FC featured in the Match of the Round last weekend and won 1-0 over rivals Nepean FC at Cook Park.
The hosts can lock in third spot with three points and coach Alan Tasses will want them headed into the finals in good form.
Sarah Easthope has 14 clean sheets for the season and another fine display between the sticks would take them a long way to the result.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers battled hard in their 1-0 loss to South Coast Flame FC at Valentine Sports Park last weekend.
It has been a much improved second season for the Town Rangers and they will finish the top half which will delight coach Neil Ross.
They will look to both Hitomi Maeda and Anicka Castaneda to sign off their impressive campaigns with a few more goals on Sunday.
