It has been an action packed first half of the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s competition which has set up for an exciting end to the season.

Let’s check out what’s been happening with our seven clubs.

Last year’s Grand Finalists Raiders Futsal Club lead the competition albeit in a three-way tie alongside West City Crusaders and Phoenix Futsal Club on 12 points. Raiders Futsal Club kicked off the season with a win against Sydney Futsal Club before back-to-back home wins against Macarthur Quake and APIA FC Futsal.

Losses followed to contenders Phoenix Futsal Club and West City Crusaders before bouncing back with a win against SD Raiders Futsal last weekend.

West City Crusaders are in second spot also on 12 points and in a prime position to play finals football again. They suffered a loss in Round 1 to Phoenix Futsal Club then they reeled off four wins in a row before their loss to Sydney Futsal Club. Those have included beating APIA FC Futsal, SD Raiders Futsal, Macarthur Quake and recently taking down leaders Raiders Futsal Club.

Next, we have Phoenix Futsal Club who have risen to third place on the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s ladder. Phoenix was on fire to start the season with four wins in a row including beating West City Crusaders, SD Raiders Futsal, Sydney Futsal Club and Raiders Futsal Club but have lost to APIA Futsal FC and Macarthur Quake in the last two weeks.

Macarthur Quake Futsal Club were relegated last season but have made a solid start to life in Futsal Premier League 2 sitting in fourth spot. The newest addition lost to Raiders Futsal Club in Round 2 before collecting their first win against APIA FC Futsal. They lost three games to SD Raiders Futsal, West City Crusaders and Sydney Futsal Club before a huge win in their latest game against Phoenix Futsal Club.

Just outside the top four is APIA FC Futsal who are sat in fifth spot on the ladder. Their first three games of the campaign saw them lose to West City Crusaders, Macarthur Quake and leaders Raiders Futsal Club. They beat Phoenix Futsal Club for a maiden win then a draw against Sydney Futsal Club followed by their massive win against SD Raiders Futsal last weekend.

In sixth, on the same points is Sydney Futsal Club who remain in striking distance of the top four. The club had a tough start to the season with back-to-back losses to Phoenix Futsal Club and Raiders Futsal Club. They broke through with wins against SD Raiders Futsal and Sydney Futsal Club and lastly, drawing with APIA FC Futsal.

SD Raiders Futsal might sit last on the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s ladder but there is plenty left for them in the second half of the season. They have lost five games while their only win has come against Macarthur Quake in Round 5.

Preview and Reviews for the remaining matches are set to feature this week onwards so keep an eye out!
