It has been an action packed first half of the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition which has set up for an exciting end to the season.

Let’s see what’s been happening with our seven clubs.

Kicking off this review is leaders SD Raiders Futsal. The leaders have swept all before them thus far in 2024 with six wins from six games. They set down an early marker with their Round 2 win against Phoenix Futsal Club then keeping that form going with plenty of goals which has propelled them to the top.

Sydney Futsal Club are five points behind them in second spot after a solid campaign thus far in 2024. Sydney Futsal Club had back-to-back wins which saw them pile in 23 goals against Phoenix Futsal Club and Raiders Futsal Club. Their only loss was to SD Raiders Futsal then beat Macarthur Quake and West City Crusaders before last Saturday’s draw against APIA FC Futsal.

Third spot belongs to Raiders Futsal Club who remain in a strong spot for a return to finals football in 2024. Their first game was a loss to Sydney Futsal Club but have strung together four wins in a row that were wins against Macarthur Quake, APIA FC Futsal, Phoenix Futsal Club and West City Crusaders. Round 7 saw them suffer a loss to league leaders SD Raiders FC.

Rounding off the top four is last year’s Grand Finalists APIA FC Futsal. It was a strong start for APIA FC Futsal with wins against West City Crusaders and Macarthur Quake followed by a loss to Raiders Futsal Club. They got back in the winner’s column against Phoenix Futsal Club then drew with Sydney Futsal Club before losing to SD Raiders Futsal in their Round 1 catch-up game last weekend.

West City Crusaders are in fifth place and four points outside the top four headed into the second half of the campaign. They kicked off the season in style with a win against Phoenix Futsal Club then lost back-to-back games to APIA FC Futsal and SD Raiders Futsal. Crusaders bounced back with a win against Macarthur Quake before losses to Sydney Futsal Club and Raiders Futsal Club.

In sixth, Macarthur Quake have made a tough start to life in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition. Their campaign began with five straight losses before they picked up their first point last weekend in a high scoring draw against fellow strugglers Phoenix Futsal Club at home.

Phoenix Futsal Club rounded off the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition and prop up the ladder in seventh position. It hasn’t been the best start for Phoenix Futsal Club with fives losses through six weeks but got off the duck egg against Macarthur Quake which might propel them up the ladder.
