2024 FPL2 Men Review RD11

The Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s competition continues to be tougher to pick than a broken nose in recent weeks. Round 11 featured three games which were filled with goals, drama and action which saw the fight for the top four tighten. The Match of the Round saw APIA FC Futsal take on Raiders Futsal Club. Let’s get onto the review.

Match of the Round: APIA FC Futsal 4 drew with Raiders Futsal Club 4

APIA FC Futsal and Raiders Futsal Club drew 4-4 in a pulsating game at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday afternoon.

It was an encouraging effort from the hosts who were down on numbers. They came back from two goals down twice to earn a point. Bilal Belkadi scored twice while Jamal Belkadi and Zayd Husain also found the back of the net.

Raiders Futsal Club will be frustrated not to take the win after leading twice. Terry Bradshaw and Kodai Hayashi gave them a 2-0 lead before they were pegged back. Sebastian Malfara and Omid Mokhtar moved them to 4-2 but they were unable to hold on.

The visitors showed their intent from kick-off. They fired a shot right at APIA FC Futsal custodian Zayd Husain.

APIA FC Futsal had their first chance through Adam Khalaf. He drove forward on the break but couldn’t get past Raiders Futsal Club keeper Ibrahim Daniel.

Sebastian Malfara then glided down the pitch before he found Goran Ljuboja who was unable to dig the ball into the net.

Jamal Belkadi combined with his brother Bilal with a wonderful ball which the latter couldn’t turn home.

The chances continued to pile up for both teams. Malfara dragged wide for Raiders Futsal Club then Jamal Belkadi couldn’t fire home at the other end.

Both Belkadi’s had opportunities to open the scoring but Daniel held firm again as the game remained at 0-0.

Raiders Futsal Club made it 1-0 in the 9th minute. Kodai Hayashi provided a superb ball for Terry Bradshaw to cushion home.

Quickly, it was 2-0 for the visitors. Hayashi had a solo effort where he dug it out well to fire home in the 9th minute as well.

APIA FC Futsal pushed to get back in the contest. Khalaf had a drive saved then Ryuki Hirota almost pounced on a defensive mistake.

The hosts did pull one back in the 14th minute. Jamal Belkadi set up Bilal Belkadi to tap home for 2-1.

APIA FC Futsal made it 2-2 in the 16th minute. Jamal Belkadi rocketed home into the top corner and gave Daniel no chance.

Buoyed by their two quick goals, APIA FC Futsal finished the half on top. Bilal Belkadi fired straight then he found Jamal Belkadi who curled wide.

Malfara gave Raiders Futsal Club a 3-2 lead in the 21st minute. He rolled home into the bottom corner.

Raiders Futsal Club custodian Daniel came up huge on the break to deny APIA after Bilal Belkadi had smashed wide earlier.

The visitors made it 4-2 in the 25th minute. Omid Mokhtar strode forward and fired home to restore the two-goal advantage.

Undeterred, APIA FC Futsal kept moving forward. Tyson Savas turned wide as they tried to recreate the magic.

Raiders Futsal Club weren’t staying still either. Slaven Ljuboja fizzed wide then Malfara couldn’t direct a pass into the net.

Once again, Bilal Belkadi found the back of the net for APIA FC Futsal. His strong strike brought it back to 4-3 in the 33rd minute.

Both sides lost a player after a tussle between Mokhtar and Jamal Belkadi which saw both of them receive straight red cards.

APIA FC Futsal used their keeper as an extra man during the three on three and profited. They worked it around and Zayd Husain thrashed home for 4-4 in the 34th minute.

Both teams weren’t content with a point. Hirota couldn’t fire home for APIA then Malfara had a big chance for Raiders Futsal Club.

Bilal Belkadi had the best chance late in the contest. He unfurled an effort which hit the inside of the post and went out.

Next, it was Raiders Futsal Club turn to hit the post. Luis Ferreira found space and rattled the woodwork.

Raiders Futsal Club held the ball in the final minute and probed for an opening but the game ended as it started level.

Post match, APIA FC Futsal coach Zoheir Belkadi reflected on a tough game for his side down on numbers:

“It was a very tough game, we only had one sub which made it hard. Steve Knight has done a great job with the side since he took and the results will come in time for us. We were smashed last time we played so this is an improvement.” said Belkadi.

A frustrated Raiders Futsal Club coach Slaven Ljuboja reflected on a game where they dropped two points:

“It is a tough draw to take, we were up by two goals twice and let them come back. It was a lack of discipline from us after taking the lead. You need to hold the ball and we went too direct which hurt us. It is a double loss for us and I’m gutted.” said Ljuboja.
