Football NSW celebrates ‘All In’ Women in Leadership event
The second ‘All In’ Women in Leadership event hosted by Football NSW’s Legacy and Women and Girls department took centre stage on Monday 25th November at the W Sydney.
As many as 70 women hailing from Football NSW and Northern NSW clubs had the chance to network as well as listen to a star-studded line up of inspirational speakers.
Led by Master of Ceremonies and Football NSW Deputy Chair Steph Brantz, this event concluded a two-year legacy funded program from the NSW State Government as a result of the 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup that has since delivered outstanding results for women in football, specifically in the leadership area.
The event had a strong focus on its main theme, ‘Follow Your Lead’ as guest speakers such as Football Australia (FA)’s Jackie Lee-Joe and former Chair of the FA Women’s Council Leigh Russell passed on invaluable knowledge and insights to the group.
Tomorrow Woman’s Kasey Miles hosted an engaging workshop on confidence and filling the space while Central Coast Mariners CEO Alyssar Narey, NSW Office of Sport Manager of Participation and Partnerships Kerry Turner and Paralympian World Champion Madison de Rozario took part in a fantastic panel sharing their stories in navigating into leadership roles.
“The future success and continuation of the program is and has been a major priority for Football NSW,” said Football NSW’s Legacy Plan Manager Helen Armson.
“Women’s football is a specific pillar in our strategic plan, and we will continue to advocate for gender equity across all areas in football and will further support women in their journeys on and off the field.
“We would like to thank the NSW Office of Sport and NSW Government for their funding support to enable the implementation of these particular programs,” Armson ended.
It’s been a successful initiative since its inception as Football NSW completed a total of four Women in Leadership Programs, Northern NSW Football delivering three and Football Australia delivering one of their own.
The success of these events has seen over 200 women across NSW build a solid understanding of sport governance, discovered strengths and weaknesses via their personal growth plan, upskilled their knowledge of leadership styles, boosted effective communication and most importantly developed a new network of supportive female football advocates.
The next Women in Leadership program is expected to be held in March 2025.
