The Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition heads into the semi-final cauldron with some superb ingredients for fantastic futsal. All four teams will be keen to make their mark and confirm a spot in the Grand Final next weekend. Let’s get onto the preview.
Semi Final #1: SD Raiders Futsal vs APIA FC Futsal, Saturday 14 December, 4:20pm, Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre
The first semi final has SD Raiders Futsal facing off against APIA FC Futsal at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon.
SD Raiders Futsal swept all before them in the regular season with 11 wins and a single loss to earn the Premiership.
The Premiers have shared the scoring around this season but Miriam Zumaya is their leader with 19 goals throughout.
Amongst their options around the pitch include Abigail Boag and Jessica Neville who have filled the net regularly.
SD Raiders Futsal missed the finals last season so they will be keen to avenge that with a trophy lift in 2024.
APIA FC Futsal had an up and down season finishing fourth registering six wins, a draw and five losses across the campaign.
There is a big blow for APIA FC Futsal with top scorer Isabella Stinziani missing this game due to a red card last weekend.
They will look towards Zoe Zaczek and Yumeka Yajima to share the workload up front in her absence.
They have shown in patches that they can challenge any team in the competition and will need a full 50-minute effort on Saturday.
Previous Meetings: SD Raiders Futsal won both games in the regular season with 8-1 and 6-3 wins in Round 1 and 8 respectively.
Semi Final #2: Sydney Futsal Club vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 14 December, 5:50pm, Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre
The second semi final sees Sydney Futsal Club take on Raiders Futsal Club at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday night.
Sydney Futsal Club finished in a comfortable second place with 9 wins, two draws and one loss in the 2024 season.
Cynthia Coghlan is the highlight name for Sydney Futsal Club picking up with the golden boot with a massive 26 goals this season.
Helping out the sharpshooter is Mia Nataly and Ashley Limnios. They scored eight and nine goals this season to finish top ten.
Back stopping the Sydney Futsal side is Natalie Milenkovski who has shown her wares as a superb shot stopper.
Raiders Futsal Club were a consistent force with their third-place finish due to seven wins, a draw and four losses this campaign.
They have a dynamic duo which has pushed them forward this season, Nicole Ossio and Amelia Savetta have combined for 35 goals which will make them dangerous in this game.
Despite the loss last weekend, Raiders Futsal Club custodian Jasmine Crouch made some key stops and she will key again this weekend.
The Raiders have shown they are one of the tougher defensive sides in the competition and won’t be a pushover in this contest.
Previous Meetings: Sydney Futsal Club won their first meeting 5-0 in Round 1 while the teams shared the points in Round 8 in a 3-3 draw.
