Round 5 Preview – League One Women’s

Round 5 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition has allowed teams to find their groove in the season and push forward towards the top four.
There are six games to run the rule over for the weekend including the Match of the Round between two contenders in Hills United FC and SD Raiders FC.
Let’s get onto the preview.
Match of the Round: Hills United FC vs SD Raiders FC, Sunday 30 March, 5:30pm, Valentine Sports Park
Hills United FC face off against SD Raiders FC down at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts kept the engine chugging with a 3-0 win against Camden Tigers FC at Ron Dine Reserve last weekend.
Striker Isabella Sciberras scored her maiden goal of the season in the result and offers them another string to their attacking bow.
Nicola Simmons has fit into the side well between the sticks and has only conceded one goal thus far this season.
SD Raiders FC dug deep for a 3-2 comeback win against South Coast Flame FC at Cirillo Reserve.
Their custodian Natasha Pentecost also had a big moment last Sunday with a penalty save and she will be needed again on the weekend.
Up front, Taiana Almeida had a brace in the win and having her firing is a big thing for SD Raiders FC this season.

South Coast Flame FC vs Inter Lions FC, Saturday 29 March, 3pm, Sir Ian McLennan Park
South Coast Flame FC take on Inter Lions FC in their game at Sir Ian McLennan Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Flame had their second loss of the season in a 3-2 result against fellow challengers SD Raiders FC.
Alexis Malizis has been the unsung hero for Flame this season with her deliveries from set pieces and defensive work.
Thus far, Flame have been one of the highest scorers in League One Women’s so head down there to enjoy some goals!
Inter Lions FC won 2-0 against Blacktown Spartans FC down at Majors Bay Reserve last weekend.
Paola Andrea Giraldo Uribe has netted in both Lions wins thus far and if she can find the back of the net again, it will be positive for the visitors.
The Lions have a good spirit around the squad early in the season so they will head down the highway confident in their work.
St George FC vs Camden Tigers FC, Sunday 30 March, 4:30pm, Barton Park
St George FC hosts Camden Tigers FC in their game down at Barton Park played on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints enjoyed a weekend off after their derby success which their scheduled bye in Round 4.
Jordan Baker has five goals already this season and the experienced campaigner is always ready to provide a moment of magic for St George FC.
Alongside her, Abbey-Rose Cryer has thrived in her wing position with both goals and assists through the first month.
Camden Tigers FC were beaten 3-0 against league leaders Hills United FC on their home turf last Sunday.
The Tigers have had a tough endured a tough one to open the League One Women’s campaign and look for improvement each week.
They will look towards their leaders Ashlee Taff and Deanna Caronna to push them forward in this game.
Nepean FC vs Blacktown City FC, Sunday 30 March, 5pm, Cook Park
Nepean FC welcomes Blacktown City FC to Cook Park for an intriguing game on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts featured in the Match of the Round and suffered a 5-0 loss to Bankstown City Lions FC last Sunday.
While they lost, Jasmine Crouch between the sticks starred for Nepean FC. She made some big saves including a point-blank effort on Karen Bennett.
Looking forward, Paris Staal put in a shift up front and her pace might cause issues for Blacktown City FC.
Blacktown City FC were beaten 5-1 by a rampant Marconi Stallions FC side at Landen Stadium last weekend.
The visitors did find the back of the net in the loss with Amber Precious finishing off a slick move from the side.
Coach Michael Hawthorne hopes they can build on that and earn their first points of the season on Sunday.
Bankstown City Lions FC vs Central Coast Mariners FC, Sunday 30 March, 5pm, Jensen Park
Bankstown City Lions FC face off against Central Coast Mariners FC at Jensen Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions put in a five-star performance in the Match of the Round against Nepean FC at Jensen Park.
Chelsea Greguric headlined the win with a hat-trick and will lead from the front again for Bankstown City Lions FC.
At the back, Samantha Payne and Kahtia Bedano have been rock solid and never looked challenged on Sunday.
Central Coast Mariners FC won 3-0 against Sutherland Strikers FC to kick off Round 4 last Saturday.
The Mariners have set a fabulous pace to start the season with three wins out of their first four fixtures which is important being on the road.
Eliza Familton is one of their players in good form with four goals this season and she will be ready to find the back of the net again.
Marconi Stallions FC vs Sutherland Strikers FC, Sunday 30 March, 5pm, Marconi Stadium
Marconi Stallions host Sutherland Strikers FC in their game at Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Stallions made it three on the trot with a 5-1 success against Blacktown City FC at Landen Stadium.
Livewire wing Olivia Cole opened the scoring in the win and she will be a headache for the defence again on Sunday.
Talia Kupceric has been a valuable option off the bench for Marconi and chipped in with a goal as well.
Sutherland Strikers FC started Round 4 and suffered a 3-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners FC on home turf.
The Strikers had a rough fortnight with two losses but they aim to put together a solid performance against the Stallions.
Crucial to that plan will be Annika Wende-Dunstan and Rosie Degnan who have been pillars at the back for the Strikers.
