Round 11 Preview – League One Women’s
Round 11 sees the continuation of Female Football Week with another hot slice of League One Women’s action.
There are seven games for fans to enjoy on Super Sunday which is highlighted by a top half Match of the Round between Central Coast Mariners FC and SD Raiders FC.
Let’s get onto the preview.
Match of the Round: Central Coast Mariners FC vs SD Raiders FC, Sunday 12 May, 3pm, Pluim Park
Central Coast Mariners FC host SD Raiders FC in their game down at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Mariners will be hoping for blue skies after their game against South East Phoenix FC was washed out last weekend.
That rest will allow the yellow-and-navy to have their whole squad available ready for the second half of the campaign.
Kyara O’Brien has done a solid job between the sticks for the Mariners and will be key to their success on Sunday.
SD Raiders FC suffered their first loss of the League One Women’s campaign in their 2-0 loss to Hills United FC.
While they lost, SD Raiders FC can take positives from the game and look to get back in the winner’s circle on the weekend.
They will look to their top scorer Taiana Almeida who has seven goals thus to find the back of the net again.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC vs Blacktown City FC, Sunday 12 May, 3pm, Popondetta Park
Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC face off against Blacktown City FC at Popondetta Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Town Rangers featured in the Match of the Round last weekend and won 3-1 against Marconi Stallions FC.
Holly Dalrymple has been an unsung hero for Mt Druitt down the wings and got the opener in the win last weekend.
The hosts have won three games in a row and move into the League One Women’s top two with another success.
Blacktown City FC were beaten 3-1 by Bankstown City Lions FC at Landen Stadium last Sunday afternoon.
The visitors will be keen to bounce back after a few downbeat performances and cause an upset on the weekend.
Sophie Roberts was their goal scorer in the defeat and she will be looking to find the back of the net again on Sunday.
Inter Lions FC vs Nepean FC, Sunday 12 May, 3pm Majors Bay Reserve
Inter Lions FC host Nepean FC in their game played down at Majors Bay Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions aim to bounce back after their 6-0 loss to Camden Tigers at Ron Dine Reserve last Sunday afternoon.
The hosts are hoping that home comforts might help them towards their second win of the League One Women’s season.
They will look towards Alicia Lee to add her two goals for the season and possibly leapfrog their opponents on the table.
Nepean FC had a close 2-0 loss against South Coast Flame FC in their game on Cook Park last weekend.
The rebuilding side have hit some bumps on their road to progress but hope the road is clear ahead on Sunday.
Nepean FC have shown in patches that they can produce a stoic defensive performance and hope to call on that in this game.
Sutherland Strikers FC vs Camden Tigers FC, Sunday 12 May, 3:30, Harrie Denning Centre
Sutherland Strikers FC take on Camden Tigers down at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The Strikers were beaten 6-0 by a rampant St George FC side in their game at Barton Park last weekend.
Midfielder Sabina Kafle has done well in the midfield for the Strikers and look for a big performance on Sunday.
The hosts have been drawn against NPLNSW Women’s powerhouse Macarthur Rams FC for their next Sapphire Cup contest.
Camden Tigers were clinical in their 6-0 win against Inter Lions at Ron Dine Reserve last Sunday afternoon.
It was a solid week for the Tigers who picked up four points after holding Central Coast to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night.
Ashleigh Long has been a solid addition since her move from Illawarra Stingrays and got her first goal for the club in their huge win.
Hills United FC vs Marconi Stallions FC, Sunday 12 May, 3:45pm, Bella Vista Public School
Hills United FC welcome Marconi Stallions down to Bella Vista Public School on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts remain on top of the table after their 2-0 win against formerly undefeated SD Raiders FC at Fairfield Showgrounds.
They are the only side unbeaten in the League One Women’s competition and chasing First Grade silverware to add to their cabinet.
Olivia Schembri and Brooke Hastie have formed a good combination for Hills United FC which has helped propel them forward.
Marconi Stallions battled hard before they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Mt Druitt Town Rangers in the Match of the Round last weekend.
Substitute Tania Baban provided an impact off the bench for the Stallions with a goal and can give them a similar boost on Sunday.
The Stallions will be without Ashley Limnios after her red card late in stoppage time against the Town Rangers.
Bankstown City Lions FC vs South East Phoenix FC, Sunday 12 May, 5:30pm, Jensen Park
Bankstown City Lions FC host the South East Phoenix FC down at Jensen Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions picked up three points after a solid 3-1 win over Blacktown City FC at Laden Stadium last weekend.
Youngster Maya Miller started the last three games for Bankstown City Lions FC and got her first goal in the win and she will be keen to add to her tally.
Another standout for the Lions has been Chelsea Greguric who has featured in all ten games thus far this season.
South East Phoenix FC were off last weekend after the distance derby against Central Coast was washed out.
They will still head up the highway full of spirits after the positive performances in the last few matches which has them 11th on the table.
The Phoenix endured a tough start but the work done in training has helped them to find the back of the net more often.
South Coast Flame FC vs St George FC, Sunday 12 May, 7pm, Sir Ian McLennan Park
South Coast Flame FC end the weekend against St George FC at Sir Ian McLennan Park on Sunday night.
The Flame won their fourth game in a row after a 2-0 success against Nepean FC at Cook Park last weekend.
This is a big game for the Flame who can jump into the top four with a win over reigning champions St George FC.
Captain Alexis Malizis will lead the way for the Flame as they aim for another win on their home turf.
St George FC opened their new stadium in style with a 6-0 win over local rivals Sutherland Strikers FC.
Jordan Baker showed why she is one of the most prolific scorers in the league with her hat-trick in the win and keen for a repeat performance.
The Saints have found some punch from their bench in recent weeks as they continue to live up to their comeback queens moniker.
