The 2025 National Futsal Championships wrapped up on Sunday with Football NSW taking home six national titles and being crowned Member Federation Champions.

Football NSW was represented in all but one grand final and also finished with eight MVP winners, six Golden Shoe recipients and two referee awards across the tournament.

Kicking off the final day was the U16 Boys competition where Football NSW Thunder defeated their highly-rated Football Queensland (FQ) opponents 6-3, with both Spencer Webster and Ewan Ruspandini notching a brace.

Next up, the Football NSW Youth Men Thunder also proved too good against FQ, taking out the title convincingly with an 8-2 scoreline, braces scored by both Dean Jovcevski and Emmanuel Loalza. In the U12 Boys competition, Football NSW Lightning soon made it three from three against FQ, edging out their cross-state rivals in a tight 6-5 affair, aided by a Jude Aouad hattrick.

The U14 Boys Thunder picked up a fourth Football NSW title, defeating Football West 2-0, while the U13 Boys and Girls team both went down in narrow 2-1 and 4-3 losses to FQ respectively.

A similar fate fell for the U15 Boys Metro, finishing as runners up to FQ (5-3), however the U15 Girls Lightning team were able to get the better of their FQ counterparts, claiming the trophy in a low-scoring 1-0 affair, with Ava Luburic’s goal proving to be the difference.

It was a win-win situation in the U17 Girls competition, with Football NSW Thunder and Lightning going head-to-head for the championship. Thunder would finish on top with a 2-0 victory thanks to two goals by Tea Mucenski, Football NSW well and truly finishing the age category as the dominant force.

FQ proved too strong for Football NSW’s Thunder in the AWD Grand Final, winning 9-4, while in the Open Women’s final match, Capital Football Blue just beat Football NSW Thunder to the trophy in a tight 1-0 match.

Football NSW finished the tournament with six national futsal titles for a second consecutive year, lifting the Member Federation Champions trophy on the evening of the tournament’s final day.

Success also came to Football NSW referees, with Blake Sanchez-Cruz named Young Referee of the Tournament and Andrew Best awarded Referee of the Tournament.
