It’s the penultimate round in the PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 1 Preseason Cup with most teams still in the mix to make the Grand Final.
Only one team from each Pool are mathematically out of the Cup which means that eights teams are fighting for only two Grand Final places.
POOL 2 –
Central Coast VS North West Sydney Koalas @ Pluim Park
On Sunday afternoon, the Central Coast welcome the North West Sydney Koalas to Pluim Park.
A victory here for the Koalas will set them up nicely ahead of the final round of the Cup. They’ve been quite impressive in their first two games, winning both along with a convincing goal difference.
The Coast are yet to register a point and are still finding their feet since being promoted.
Manly United VS Sydney University @ Cromer Park
Cromer Park will see Manly United and Sydney University do battle on Sunday afternoon.
This will be an interesting tie as both sides must register wins to ensure they go into the final day with an opportunity of sneaking first place.
Uni have registered a win and a draw so far and know that two wins in their final two games will see them move into the Cup Grand Final.
Manly must win on Sunday as well as their final pool game and hope results go their way.
POOL 1 –
Blacktown Spartans VS Football NSW Institute
It’s goal difference that separates first from third as the Blacktown Spartans welcome the Champions Football NSW Institute to Blacktown Football Park on Sunday.
The Spartans have scored a massive win against the Rams and a draw so far in the Preseason Cup. A win on Sunday would go a long way to putting them in a place to fight for the first piece of silverware of the year.
The Institute have the same record with a slightly better goal difference. With a replay of last years Grand Final looming in the final round of the Cup, the Institute will look to register an important three points in the battle for first place.
North Shore Mariners VS Illawarra Stingrays
At Valentine Sports Park it’s the North Shore Mariners taking on the Illawarra Stingrays on Sunday afternoon.
The Mariners can’t make the Grand Final and are mathematically out. Nevertheless, a win would work as a great confidence booster for the team with the beginning of the season only a few weeks away.
The current Champions of the Preseason Cup know that a win here is imperative if they’re to defend their title from last season. Currently sharing first place with two other teams, the Stingrays know that this could go down to the wire.
