PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 1 Round 5 Preseason Cup Preview
We’ve reached the final round of the PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 1 Preseason Cup this weekend. In what will be an interesting final day of play, it’s winner takes all in Pool 1 while Pool 2 is just about sorted.
POOL 1 –
Illawarra Stingrays vs Blacktown Spartans @JJ Kelly Park
What a game it will be at JJ Kelly Park on Sunday afternoon when the Illawarra Stingrays welcome the Blacktown Spartans down the coast.
The Spartans have surprised many with their preseason form but obviously not themselves and at the moment are sitting atop of Pool 1. A draw will be enough for them to fight for the first piece of silverware this season.
The Stingrays know that only a victory will see them progress and defend their Preseason Cup trophy from last season. With Jordan Baker in fine form already, they’ll be looking to the young speedster for some glory.
It promises to be a game full of fireworks and will certainly keep all fans on their toes.
Football NSW Institute vs Macarthur Rams @Lynwood Park
It’s last years Grand Final rematch between the Football NSW Institute and Macarthur Rams.
The Institute’s shock loss to the Spartans last week closed the door for both the home side and the Rams, making this game virtually a dead rubber.
It will be anything but though with the Rams wanting some pay back for last years Grand Final defeat.
Therefore, Sundays game should be quite the interesting one for fans.
POOL 2 –
Manly United vs Emerging Jets @ Cromer Park
The Emerging Jets will travel down to Cromer Park on Sunday to take on Manly United.
United have tasted defeat only once throughout the Cup but will find it extremely difficult to go through to the final. They need to hope for a high scoring win and a defeat for the Koalas to progress.
The Jets won’t be a pushover though and have been improving every week, especially since their disappointing first round defeat. Since then, they have registered a draw and victory and will be looking to finish the Cup on a high ahead of the new season.
Sydney University vs North West Sydney Koalas
It’s first verse third on Sunday at The Square as the North West Sydney Koalas take on Sydney University.
Inconsistency has been Uni’s downfall throughout the Cup and after last weeks loss, they’re now out of contention for a Grand Final place.
The Koalas have all but secured their place in the Final, only a loss and massive win for Manly could see them lose first place. They’ve performed exceptionally throughout the Cup so far, wining all three games and scoring 13 goals along the way.
Rescheduled RND 4
Central Coast 0-5 North West Sydney Koalas
Central Coast and the North West Sydney Koalas took to Pluim Park on Tuesday night to play their weekend game that was washed out.
The Koalas showed their domination in this one, coming away with a more than comfortable 5-0 victory. The win almost assures the Koalas of a Grand Final place.
