Round 14 of the Men’s State League 2 competition promises plenty of action across the grounds as teams continue to push for a top five spot.

For this week’s Match of the Round, we see competition leaders, Dunbar Rovers host fifth-placed Prospect United, who will be looking to pick up three points away.

Dunbar Rovers vs Prospect United, 3pm Saturday 18 July, Hensley Athletic Field (Match of the Round)

The Dunbar Rovers return to Hensley for this week’s match of the Round after two away games against Hurstville FC and University of NSW, both resulted in draws.

They will be looking to get back into their winning ways come Sunday and maintain their undefeated record.

For Prospect United, they will see this as an opportunity to cause an upset and edge their way closer to the top tier after two losses and a draw in their last three matches played, saw them drop from third to fifth.

Southern Districts SFA vs University of NSW, 7pm Saturday 18 July, Ernie Smith Reserve WASHED OUT

Camden Tigers vs Hurstville FC, 7pm Saturday 18 July, Ron Dine Reserve

Second placed meets third when Hurstville FC and the Camden Tigers face off at Ron Dine Reserve on Saturday night.

Hurstville FC are coming off a 4-2 victory against the Minotaurs last week, while Camden picked up their first draw of the season when they hosted Prospect at home.

The last time these two teams met was back in round five with Hurstville coming out convincing 4-0 victors.

Camden had won five in a row before last week’s draw so no doubt they will be hungry to get back in the winning circle and make amends for their previously disappointing performance.

FC Gazy Lansvale vs Western Condors FC, 3pm Sunday 19 July, Progress Park WASHED OUT

FC Gazy Lansvale have a short turnaround this week after going down to the hands of Southern Districts 4-2 last night.

Despite getting off to a promising start, they lacked the ability to grind out a game, which has been their downfall for most of the season.

They have not won since round seven so they will be eager to make a late run and finish the season positively, starting from this week.

For the Western Condors, they find themselves only one win out of the top five.

They have been one of the most exciting attacking teams this season, led by Mauricio Navarrete, who is top of the goal-scoring list with 14 in just nine appearances.

Hurstville Minotaurs vs Wagga City Wanderers, 3pm Sunday 19 July, Valentine Sports Park

Our second Sunday match sees a bottom of the table clash between the Hurstville Minotaurs and the Wagga City Wanderers.

Despite going down 4-2 to Hurstville FC in the local derby last week, the Minotaurs would have gained confidence out of their early second half performance.

After trailing 2-0 at the break, they managed to score two goals within ten minutes before running out of legs in the final 15 minutes of play.

Although the Wanderers were defeated 4-1 at home by the Condors last week, they will see this match as a great opportunity to pick up their maiden club victory and leapfrog their opponents in the process.
