Football NSW referees honoured at Branch Awards night

Over 100 guests celebrated what was a successful year at the 2024 Football NSW Referees Branch awards night last Saturday at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf.

Among those present were esteemed life members including John Bowdler, Richard Baker, Simon Micallef, Robert Colombo, Alex Glasgow, Sandro Perticarini, Con Diomis, Jim Nicolaou, Wayne Lenardon and Nick Asargiotis.

The evening honored dedicated referees for their years of service, with notable acknowledgments to Kurt Ams (25 years), John Bowdler (40 years), and the remarkable 50-year milestones achieved by Roger Doenau and Alan Townsend.

Several prestigious awards were presented, highlighting outstanding performances and contributions to refereeing.

Chris Young received the Bob Grabowski Members’ Member of the Year Award, while John Parker was named the Dennis Micallef Assessor of the Year.

Reece Edwards earned the Laurie Ang Rookie of the Year Award, and Stephanie Hilton was recognized as the John Hague Most Improved Award winner.

Additionally, Charbel Geha was awarded U20s Referee of the Year, with Cameron Wright and Alexis Johnson named the Assistant Referees of the Year.

Isabella Mossin was celebrated as Women’s Referee of the Year, and Sam Kelly took home the Men’s Referee of the Year accolade.

Congratulations to all the award winners which capped off a fantastic 2024 for all Football NSW officials.
