Zabaks loving Shark life at Sutherland

The 24-year-old custodian began his career between the sticks with the Menai Hawks before moving onto then Super League clubs Dulwich Hill and Rockdale sandwiched in between stints with A.P.I.A and Hadjuk.
After a successful season with the Macarthur Rams in 2004, the shot stopper packed his bags and made his way to America where he represented Lindsey Wilson in the College N.A.I.A competition, which culminated in his selection in the All American squad.
?That was my first taste of professional football and I had a ball,? he said.
?The season was very short, we started in August and were done by late December but in that time we played almost 30 games so we spent a lot of time on the road.
?It was very professional and from that moment I knew what was required to see my game go up a few notches.?
After returning down under a year later, Zabaks had a social season with Port Kembla before returning to the representative fold with FC Bossy in 2006.
A chance call from Ron Corry last year saw the caf? manager at Town Hall?s Red Barista soon call Seymour Shaw home and he has been entrenched as the Sharks first choice keeper ever since.
?From the moment I started training with Sutherland I felt at home,? he said.
?This year with Brian (Bomber) Brown and Cliffy Pointer we are playing with a lot of confidence and that has been reflected through our results.
?The fact that we have gone through the Johnny Warren Cup and over a dozen games in the league without being beaten over 90 minutes is unbelievable.
?We have a great balance across the park and Brad Boardman?s finishing has made a huge difference.
?This time last year we were dominating teams but not scoring ? thankfully we have rectified that and along with Manly United we will be there when it matters.?
Zabaks also revealed he places strong emphasis on religion in his life, believing God has mapped out a plan for his football career.
?I come from a Christian family where I was raised to believe that God has our destiny in his hands,? he said.
?Like most players I would love to show what I can do in the A League as well as overseas.
?Playing in England in the Championship has been a goal of mine for sometime and if I keep improving with Sutherland I am confident I can realise that dream.?
