Bonnyrigg White Eagles to face Blacktown City for Cancer research

Held in honour of the late Dusan Cirjanic, who passed away in 2006 after losing his battle with lung cancer, all proceeds of this special charity match will be donated to the Cancer Research as Bonnyrigg Sports Ground looks set to be filled to the brim on Saturday.
Cirjanic was a living legend at the Bonnyrigg White Eagles as he was a life member at the club and was club secretary for well over 30 years as well as being a life member for Football NSW.
With both senior squads battling it out in the main game at 7pm, a special curtain raiser match has also been organised which will see a replay of the 1992 NSW Super League Grand Final between Avala (now known as the Bonnyrigg White Eagles) and Blacktown City Demons of that era.
Scheduled for a 5pm kick-off, names such as Gus Cerro, Mirko Radosavljevic, Hugo Giminez, Osvaldo El Ali, Damon Langan, Craig and Paul Foster and Jason Connolly will feature in this special re-match that took centre stage 16 years ago.
Highlighting the importance of the main game, the Bonnyrigg White Eagles coached by the experienced Blagoje Kulevski, will be using the clash against Blacktown City in preparing themselves for their first Super League match of the season when they entertain St George on the 29th of March in what?s been seen as a Grand-Final replay of 2007.
The White Eagles have lost quite a few notable stars in Matthew Mayora (Sydney Olympic), Sargon Georges (West Sydney Berries) and Nikola Zonjic (FK Kom Podgorica ? 1st Division Club in Montenegro) while 2007 Super League Golden Boot winner Jason Kencevski is currently recovering from injury but will be back during the season.
In terms of recruits the club moved swiftly to sign Fairfield City Lions keeper Ali Akbal while the likes of Captain David Petrovic, Paul Cotte, Mark D?Alessandro and hot property Goran Subara will be ones to look for in season 2008 for the Eagles.
Subara coincidently was the target of a number of TeleChoice Premier League clubs this season but the 19-year-old opted to stay with the Eagles as its number one right back.
Blacktown City coached by Ken Schembri will be looking towards hopefully securing its first victory for season 2008 as last year?s Champions have failed to win a match in the four TeleChoice Premier League Rounds thus far.
Having only a solitary point to its name after round 4, the Demons are currently languishing in eleventh spot but would love nothing more than to get their momentum going again with victory over the 2007 Super League Champions.
With the TeleChoice Premier League taking an Easter Break this week, Blacktown City will be hoping that stars such as Brendan Maroney, Bruno Salas, Brian Venega, Jordan and Tyler Simpson, Ryan Walsh and Ivan Necevski find their feet in what will be an exciting match-up for a special cause.
