Metropolitan Representative League Premierships decided

In Grade 11 we saw Ku ring gai Association rewarded with the 2008 Premiership for their outstanding consistency this season, losing only 2 matches from 22 rounds of top level representative football. In Sunday?s final round, Ku ring gai confirmed their position at the top of the table with a convincing, but hard-fought 2-1 victory against 3rd placed Sutherland and will earn the right for a well-earned rest next week from the Championship Series.
In next Sunday?s Preliminary Semi Final, Sutherland will play St George who cemented their 2nd place in this competition with their emphatic 4-1 win over Blacktown who relinquished their 4th position as a result of the loss to finish 5th. Southern Districts also had an impressive victory over Eastern Suburbs to snare the 4th position on the table and they will play Blacktown in the Elimination Semi Final next Sunday.
Whilst in Grade 12 it was the Sutherland Association that proudly flew the flag for the Southern Conference league with their outstanding displays this season to grab the 2008 Premiership from the four Northern Conference associations that chased them all the way to the title. Sutherland only lost 4 games from their 22 rounds of premiership football and ensured their title win and a week off from the Championship Series with a 2-0 win on Sunday against Ku ring gai.
Eastern Suburbs grabbed 2nd position with a 1-0 win over Southern Districts and Manly-Warringah will now play Eastern Suburbs next Sunday in the Preliminary Semi Final after defeating Southern Branch 4-0 in their final match. 4th position went to Granville after their 2-1 victory over Macarthur in the curtain raiser to the Tiger Turf Cup Final on Sunday and will play 5th placed Central Coast in the Elimination Semi Final next Sunday following their 3-1 victory over Bankstown in Round 22.
Sutherland Association are to be especially congratulated as they were the only Association to have both their teams make the Championship Series. Well Done to Sutherland and Good Luck to all teams in the upcoming Championship Finals.
