Following an opening Round loss against Melbourne Victory one-week earlier, the Mariners were quick to ?make the wrong, right? at Parramatta Stadium last weekend.
?We were a little bit flat against Melbourne Victory, though against Perth we were much more comfortable on the ball, and we moved it around very well,? commented coach Stephen Roche.
Central Coast took a two goal lead courtesy of the skillful Trudy Camilleri and player of the match Renee Rollason, before the Western Australian outfit pulled a goal back to keep the Mariners edgy in the closing stages courtesy of Shannon May.
Rollason was on hand to grab her brace in injury time from the penalty-spot, ensuring the momentum is right for the Canberra trip this week.
Rollason commented following the win:
?It was important to get the win against Perth as it helps with our confidence for our next match against Canberra.
?It is an away match and Canberra got a good win against Queensland Roar in Brisbane so we will need another strong performance to keep the good momentum.
?The season is quite short, so we really need to get results to stay at the top end of the table,? concluded Rollason.
The Central Coast Mariners face Canberra United at McKellar Park on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm AEDT.
The match will also be heard live on 2XX 98.3FM Canberra Community Radio with the show starting at 4.30pm with Russ Gibbs calling the match.
The station?s stream is available on www.nearpost.blogsport.com on Sunday.
