Ron Hughes and Lachlan Daniel scoop Community Sports awards accolade

Promising young Macarthur born referee Lachlan Daniel and Southern Districts Soccer Football Association’s Ron Hughes both were rewarded for their efforts to the game at the 2013 Community Sports Awards held at the NSW Parliament House on the 17th of May.
Daniel took out the Young Official of the Year award in what was a stellar season for the up and coming referee. Having obtained a Level 3 Officiating Certificate, Lachlan was appointed as referee to the State League and then selected for the National Titles. It was from there he won honours of being awarded a National Youth League Panel contract with the youngster looking towards officiating in the Hyundai A-League as a future goal.
Ron meanwhile took out the Distinguished Long Service award. Ron has received a number of accolades through his passion for the sport and is a life member at the SDSFA as well as the Liverpool Rangers FC. He was also awarded the Liverpool Bi-Centenary Community award in 2009 and was recognised by Football NSW with a State award in 2004 as well as the prestigious George Churchward medal in 2012. Ron has been on the committee of the SDSFA for 25 years whilst also holding positions on the Liverpool District Women’s Soccer Committee and Liverpool Sports Council since 2006 and has worked tirelessly in developing and promoting football’s inclusive approach throughout the community.
The Community Sports Awards recognise outstanding achievements & contributions made by volunteers across New South Wales. The Awards are an expansion of the Sports Volunteer Awards previously conducted by the NSW Sports Federation.
