Sasa Macura will take to the field on Sunday afternoon at Valentine Sports Park in hope of making it back to back Waratah Cup titles for Blacktown City.
In only his second season for the boys in black, Macura has already won two trophies and is on the verge of making it three.
He believes his side is ready to continue their success come Sunday afternoon.
“It feels great to be part of a team that’s playing attractive football and being successful.
“The chance to win another trophy only motivates us to keep winning.”
For Macura, the success at Blacktown City starts from behind the scenes and continues through the youth system which is one of the best in the state.
“We have a great culture and player mentality within the club and we take that onto the field.
“Blacktown attracts the best young players and everyone wants to be a part of their teams.
“It all starts from the youth and the club has proven that again this season by leading the Club Championship.”
It has been a long time between drinks for a team to win the Waratah Cup in back to back season but Macura and his team are well aware of what they may achieve.
“It would be a big achievement since the last team that won a successive Cup was 20 years ago so we’re all motivated and excited in the possibility of changing that.
“We’re proud of reaching the final for a second consecutive year but we that nothing has been achieved yet. We need to stay focused and concentrated on the upcoming game.”
To make it two straight titles, Blacktown must defeat Mark Rudan’s tough Sydney United 58 side which has quality players across the pitch.
Even though City has taken two wins against United 58 FC in the league this year, Macura understands it won’t be an easy ride in the final.
“It’s always a hard game against Sydney United 58 FC as they are a respectable side.
“We’ve beaten them twice in the league but the final will be a totally different game so we need to be weary of each player as on the day it will be up for anyone to make a difference.
“We respect them but in saying that, we’re confident in our ability.”
