PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Men’s side Central Coast Mariners Academy swapped the football pitch for the Gosford Golf Club last week to assist one of Australia’s boxing icons Troy Waters.

Waters, who has been suffering from a rare blood disease, acute myeloid leukaemia since 2014, was greatly assisted by the Mariners along with a number of businesses where they raised $22,000 thanks to the special golf day.

The funds went towards assisting Waters’ medical bills.

Central Coast Mariners Academy Director Ken Schembri was delighted with the support the special Golf Day received for such a great cause.

“Our Community and Club have banded together to assist this wonderful family in their time of need.

“Special mention should be made of Martin Vanderslot who led and worked tirelessly in this successful project."

The well-known Australian boxer was overwhelmed by the support and thanked everyone for helping his family.
