Round 17 Preview – League One Women’s
Round 17 is another mouth-watering weekend of the Football NSW League One Women’s competition as we continue to race towards the end.
There are seven games to enjoy across a Super Sunday highlighted by the top of the table clash and the Match of the Round between Central Coast Mariners FC and Bankstown City Lions FC.

Match of the Round: Central Coast Mariners FC vs Bankstown City Lions FC, Sunday 23 June, 3pm, Pluim Park`
Central Coast Mariners FC host Bankstown City Lions FC down at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Mariners are ready to bounce back after their 1-0 loss to Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC last weekend.
It is a busy week for the Mariners who have a catch-up game against South East Phoenix FC in Nowra on Wednesday before heading home on Sunday.
Annalise Rasmussen is always a threat for the Mariners and her slick moves will be key for the Mariners on Sunday.
Bankstown City Lions FC continued on their merry way after a 4-0 win against Marconi Stallions FC away from home.
The Lions have recovered from their earlier stumble this season and a win on Sunday can take them a long way towards the finals.
Both Stephanie Ambrose and Zahli Dean have been consistent performers for the Lions this season.
This game will be streamed live on the Football NSW YouTube channel under the LIVE tab on Sunday afternoon. The ‘Voice of Central Coast Football’ Peter Prior will be behind the microphone for this huge clash.
Nepean FC vs St George FC, Sunday 23 June, 3pm, Cook Park
Nepean FC welcome St George FC down to Cook Park (St Marys) for their game on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts will be ready to get back on the field after their game against Camden Tigers FC was washed out.
Nepean FC hope there is no more rain around Sydney and avoid having to pile up any more catch-up games this season.
St George FC were ruthless in their 7-0 win against Inter Lions FC in their game at Majors Bay Reserve last weekend.
It was a much-needed result for the Saints who look to string together some results over the next month.
Abbey-Rose Cryer scored twice in the result and she will look to add to her tally of three goals for the League One Women’s season.
Inter Lions FC vs Blacktown City FC, Sunday 23 June, 3pm, Majors Bay Reserve

The Lions hope to erase last week’s 7-0 defeat against St George FC with a stronger performance on Sunday.
It has been a tough season for Inter Lions FC but they look to upset the apple cart in the last 10 rounds of the competition.
Inter Lions FC custodian Safa Hijazi might need to produce some big saves to help them towards a result on Sunday.
Blacktown City FC were held to a 1-1 draw against South East Phoenix FC down in Nowra last Sunday afternoon.
Mid-season signing Keira Hastings opened the scoring with her second goal of the season and will be hungry for more on the weekend.

SD Raiders FC vs Marconi Stallions FC, Sunday 23 June, 3:30pm, Ernie Smith Reserve
SD Raiders FC take on local rivals Marconi Stallions down at Ernie Smith Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts had a thumping 6-0 win against South Coast Flame FC at Sir Ian McLennan Park last weekend.
They are tied for second spot in the League One Women’s competition and further cemented themselves in the top four.
Taiana Almeida has led the line well for SD Raiders FC and has found the back of the net 16 times thus far.
Marconi Stallion were beaten 4-0 by the high flying Bankstown City Lions FC side at Marconi Stadium.
Influential midfielder Marie Herrera will miss the game after her red card in the first half of their defeat.
The Stallions will look to get revenge after they were beaten 2-0 in the previous game against SD Raiders FC in Round 4.
Sutherland Strikers FC vs South Coast Flame FC, Sunday 23 June, 3:30pm, Harrie Denning Centre
Sutherland Strikers FC face off against South Coast Flame FC at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The Strikers are riding high after their 3-2 win against Hills United FC in the Match of the Round last weekend.
Tori Tumeth showed why you can’t spell terrific without Tori after her well taken brace in the big success.
Alongside her, Georgie Lewis has provided great work down the wings and will be a danger again on the weekend.
South Coast Flame FC were beaten 6-0 by a rampant SD Raiders FC side at Sir Ian McLennan Park last Saturday afternoon.
The Flame will be ready to banish their last outing and pick up another three points to move up the ladder.
They will look towards Sariah Wilson and Jarrah Fuz to push them forward against a team riding high.
Hills United FC vs Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC, Sunday 23 June, 3:45pm, Bella Vista Public School
Rounding off the weekend is a blockbuster between Hills United FC and Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC at Bella Vista Public School on Sunday afternoon.
Hills United FC will be keen to bounce back after their 3-2 loss in the Match of the Round to Sutherland Strikers FC.
Coach Alan Tasses will have the team prepared after a very un-Hills like performance from their defence.
Bianca Galayini gave the side impact of the bench with a goal and she might be a super sub again on Sunday.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC jumped to the top of the League One Women’s ladder after their 1-0 win against Central Coast Mariners FC.
The visitors can extend their two-point lead at the summit if they can extend their win streak to double digits.
Rita Boateng has been in good form for the Town Rangers with 11 goals this season and she might find the back of the net again in this top of the table clash.
Sapphire Cup Round 4 previews
The Sapphire Cup competition shines back into action this mid-week with four League One Women’s sides taking part this Wednesday night. Firstly, Hills United FC head up to the Northern Beaches to face off against last year’s All Ages Women’s State Cup champions Seaforth FC. Next, South Coast Flame FC travel out face Coogee United FC while high flying NPLNSW Women’s outfit Sydney Olympic FC host SD Raiders FC and St George FC go to the Arctic Circle to take on NWS Spirit FC.
