Round 23 Preview – League One Women’s
Round 23 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition sees it turn into the final corner as the season enters the final month.
It is also a weekend which could help shake out the top four with two big clashes amongst the top six sides amongst the contests lined out for Sunday.
The Match of the Round sees St George FC host South Coast Flame FC in an almost finals eliminator.

Match of the Round: St George FC vs South Coast Flame FC, Sunday 3 August, 4:30pm, Barton Park
St George FC hosts South Coast Flame FC in their contest down at Barton Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints head into this game after their 6-0 win against Inter Lions FC played at Barton Park last weekend.
Danielle Rutstein featured on the scoresheet again and the winger will be key to success for the hosts on Sunday.
Alongside her, Janan Codmani is the workhorse of the St George FC attack and can provide a killer pass for them.
South Coast Flame FC won 4-1 against Blacktown Spartans FC down at Sir Ian McLennan Park last Saturday.
Sariah Wilson scored the opener for the Flame and she adds another weapon to their potent attack headed into the final month.
Alongside her, Bessie Riethmuller has showed she can score from anywhere and needs to be watched by the Saints defence.
This is a big game for both teams as three points here could be huge for their chances of playing finals football.

SD Raiders FC vs Marconi Stallions FC, Sunday 3 August, 3pm, Ernie Smith Reserve

The hosts had a comfortable 2-0 win against a dogged Nepean FC side at Cook Park played last Sunday.
Striker Abigail Boag is SD Raiders FC’s leading scorer this season and she will be a threat in front of goal again on Sunday.
Madeliene Malone has featured in almost game for SD Raiders FC and has been a key cog in their midfield.
Marconi Stallions FC won 3-1 against Bankstown City Lions FC down at Marconi Stadium #2 on Sunday afternoon.
Erinn Cleghorn tallied in the result and her work up front is key to the Stallions cementing their spot in the top four.
Captain Daniela Brekic is the rock at the back for Marconi and she will look to lead the side to three big points on Sunday.
Sutherland Strikers FC vs Inter Lions FC, Sunday 3 August, 4:30pm, Harrie Denning Centre
Sutherland Strikers FC face off against Inter Lions FC down at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The Strikers fought back for a 1-1 draw against league leaders Hills United FC at Valentine Sports Park.
It was a superb striker from Kathleen McParland which earnt the point and will give the attacker a boost for the rest of the season.
The pace from Alliyah Yamaguchi up front is a weapon that Sutherland Strikers FC could use in this clash to get another big result.
Inter Lions FC battled hard before falling away in their 6-0 loss to St George FC at Majors Bay Reserve last weekend.
Izabella Kalachian has started getting some important minutes in First Grade moving up from the U23s and could be a rising star for the Lions.
Defender Isabella Romarate King has been a constant fixture for Inter Lions FC in 2025 and she will put in another shift on Sunday.

The Mariners enjoyed a big week taking six points after their wins against South Coast Flame FC and Blacktown City FC.
Peyton Scollay scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 win against Blacktown City FC and has 14 goals for the campaign.
Coach Greg Hartge has the side full of confidence headed into the final month after they have slipped back into fourth position.
Blacktown Spartans FC lost 4-1 to South Coast Flame FC to kick off Round 22 down at Sir Ian McLennan Park.
While they lost, Melina Visser did get on the scoresheet for the Spartans to add to her tally for the season.
The Spartans can use the final month to play spoiler for the top four and get some precious points to end on a high.
Bankstown City Lions FC vs Hills United FC, Sunday 3 August, 5pm, Jensen Park
Bankstown City Lions FC welcome Hills United FC down to Jensen Park for their contest on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions were beaten 3-1 by highflyers Marconi Stallions FC in their game at Marconi Stadium last weekend.
Samantha Payne has been a dependable option for Bankstown City Lions FC at the back and will have a big job on Sunday.
Up front, Karen Bennett was their lone scorer in the Stallions defeat and aim to find the back of the net again.
Hills United FC featured in the Match of the Round and had a 1-1 draw against Sutherland Strikers FC.
Gemma Woolley was on target in the score draw and her partnership with Isabella Sciberras look to push Hills United FC to three points.
Silverware is in touching distance for Hills United FC so coach Allan Tasses will want them to put their best foot forward in this game.
Camden Tigers FC vs Nepean FC, Sunday 3 August, 5pm, Ron Dine Reserve
Camden Tigers FC face off against Nepean FC in their game down at Ron Dine Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers had the weekend of Round 22 off to freshen up before the final month of football in the League One Women’s competition.
Goal scorer Chantelle Barnard leads the way for the Tigers in 2025 and her energy is big for the hosts to earn three points.
Defender Deana Caronna has been a solid signing for the Tigers and her experience at the back will be important in the final month.
Nepean FC were beaten 2-0 against SD Raiders FC in their game down at Cook Park last weekend.
Despite the loss, it was a good week for Nepean FC. They held Marconi Stallions FC to a stalemate mid-week.
Nepean FC picked up their other point of the season in this reverse fixture so they will head into this game full of confidence.
