2025 Futsal Premier League Open Men’s – Mid-Season Review
The 2025 Futsal Premier League Open Men’s season has reached its halfway mark and it’s shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory.
While Mountain Majik have set the early pace with a perfect record, a thrilling five-team battle is unfolding for the remaining semi-final spots. Meanwhile, Sydney Futsal Club have picked up some crucial results to stay within striking distance, and Boomerangs FS will be hoping to spark a turnaround in the second half of the campaign.
Mountain Majik – Perfect So Far
Leading the way with a flawless six wins from six, Mountain Majik have been the standout team of the season so far. Boasting both the best attack and best defence in the league, Majik have displayed balance and depth across the court.
A particularly encouraging sign for their coaching staff has been the diversity in scoring with nine different players finding the net so far. Anthony Haddad, Alexander Vlismas, and Robson Aparecido de Souza each have five goals, showing the threat comes from multiple avenues.
Majik will face their biggest test yet when they meet Mascot Vipers twice in one weekend (November 1–2), in what could be a defining moment for their unbeaten run.
UTS Northside – Back in Contention
Sitting second on 13 points, UTS Northside have bounced back strongly after missing the semi-finals last season. They’ve won four of their seven matches, including a key early-season victory over the Vipers.
While form has fluctuated in recent weeks as it has for many teams in this tightly contested league, UTS remain among the competition’s top scorers with 26 goals. Kyle Devine has led the line effectively with six goals, and Northside will be eager to convert their attacking output into greater consistency during the run home.
Sydney Allstars – Solid and Structured
Just behind them, Sydney Allstars have a game in hand and could leapfrog into the top positions with a win. Their results have been mixed, with impressive victories over Sydney Futsal Club, Boomerangs FS, and Mascot Vipers, offset by losses to Dural Warriors and Mountain Majik.
Built on the league’s third-best defence, the Allstars have a sturdy foundation, and their attack is led by superstar and Futsalroo Jayden Harb with eight goals, supported by fellow Futsalroos teammate Dominic Cox on five. With a balanced squad and competitive edge, they remain right in the hunt for a semi-final berth.
Dural Warriors – Rising Fast
Dural Warriors closed out the first half of the season in strong form, winning three straight matches against sides around them on the ladder. Confidence is high heading into the back half of the campaign and a crucial Friday night clash against Mountain Majik promises to be a fascinating test between the league’s two in-form teams.
Their success has been driven by attacking star Ahmed Sweedan, who currently leads the Golden Boot race, while the team’s structure and composure have improved with each round. Dural look well positioned to challenge for a semi-final place.
Eastern Suburbs Hakoah – Defence First
Next up are Eastern Suburbs Hakoah, the side with the best defensive record in the league. After winning three of their first four games, they suffered back-to-back defeats last weekend against Mascot Vipers and Mountain Majik, slipping slightly down the table.
Their standout win came in Round 4 against UTS Northside, when they came from behind to snatch victory through a late Samuel Tzanakes strike. Both Tzanakes and James Reed have been key contributors in attack with four goals each. If Hakoah can rediscover their early-season form, they’ll remain a serious contender for finals football.
Mascot Vipers – On the Rebound
In unfamiliar territory just outside the top four, Mascot Vipers will feel confident about climbing back up the ladder. After losing their opening two matches, they’ve won three of their last four, including an impressive victory over Eastern Suburbs Hakoah.
While their results have improved, the Vipers will be looking to sharpen up at both ends of the court, currently sitting mid-table for both goals scored and conceded. Corby Fowler has been a standout, netting six goals in as many appearances, and will be key to their resurgence in the second half of the season.
Sydney Futsal Club – Showing Fight
Sydney Futsal Club have collected some valuable points and sit on six, three behind the mid-table pack and five clear of bottom side Boomerangs FS. Their Round 4 win over Dural Warriors remains a highlight, alongside a crucial victory over the Boomerangs.
Lucas Brandow Vidal and Vinicius Janjacomo have been the club’s main sources of goals, while their Round 9 rematch with Boomerangs FS looms as a pivotal fixture in their season.
Boomerangs FS – Work to Do
It’s been a challenging first half of the season for Boomerangs FS, who have managed just one point from their opening seven matches, a draw with Dural Warriors back in Round 3.
Goals have been hard to come by, and defensive lapses have cost them dearly. Their upcoming meeting with Sydney Futsal Club could prove crucial in their bid to turn things around and avoid a relegation battle. The Boomerangs will need a significant improvement at both ends of the court if they’re to mount a late charge up the table.
