Blacktown & District Soccer FA side Marayong FC has continued to spread the good news of football via its successful Summer Football competitions currently taking shape at Harvey Park where hundreds of participants are busily playing the game they love during the weekdays.

Established in 1988, Marayong FC has been renowned in the area for being a complete football club for boys and girls from the ages of five and up with the push for engaging more participants to the sport.

Summer Football has come through leaps and bounds at the club with Football NSW’s Development Officer Lauren Moore recently visiting the venue during a Summer Football evening and had the chance to catch up with Club Secretary Chris Bassili.

Bassili stated that their Summer Football competitions ranged from the ages of Under 9’s right through to the all age men and women who wanted to continue on with their passion of playing football all year round.

It’s now Bassili’s tenth consecutive season at the club and he has been busily running this specific competition with their constant affiliation to Football NSW.

“Thus far it has been another successful Summer Football season being at full capacity with very high numbers and interest where we had to unfortunately turn some teams away.

“It’s like a little family community down here, every year the same teams keep coming back and now due to marketing and word of mouth, we have more teams coming from all around the area to play.

“We seem to have taken over from Prospect as being the largest competition in the Blacktown area.”

Apart from Summer Football, Bassili was interested in looking into the newly developed concept of ‘Walking Football’ as he stated that he wanted to cater the world game to the older age groups.

Watch this space as this initiative could well become a reality also.
