Football NSW State Titles roar into day two with many upsets

kan

The Under 11 titles in Bathurst was highlighted by the continued excellent form of Metro West who remain undefeated with maximum points after two days of competition.
They are dogged however by the very good Metro South side who are also undefeated but have had one draw and the battle between these two sides should provide many exiting moments during the remainder of the week.  The NSW Country 14 girls had reason to celebrate with their first victory in the titles over Country Riverina.
The Wagga Wagga based Under 14 titles have been thrown wide open after the highly fancied Metro Far South and Metro South teams surprisingly going down in Day Two.  With early favorites Metro East continuing to cause trouble for the front runners and complacency with the ever keen Country teams we will need another couple of days of competition to decide where these titles are headed in 2009.  It was also great to see the FNSW Country U/13 boys grab their first point with a fighting draw against Country Riverina.
Wagga Wagga has been hit by rain and very cold winds, but the players and supporters have braved the wintry conditions and been rewarded with some great football.
Whilst in Orange where the Under 15 titles are being decided, it is Metro West and Metro East that are leading the way, both being undefeated and with max points from all their matches.  There are some very good teams chasing this leading duo and only one slip-up could see changes at the top.  Conditions are bitterly cold at Orange but spirits are high and alla re having a very good time at the titles.
I made it to South Nowra SF at Nowra today for the Under 16 titles where the games were played in glorious weather conditions, with the sun shining brightly and a light breeze which unfortunately turned very blustery late in the day.  Away from the weather forecast and onto the football, it is Metro Far South and Metro Far North who are riding high on top of the table and they certainly look the goods, but they both have some big matches coming up in the next couple of days and the outcome of these games could be very interesting.  There are many teams ready to pounce on any slip-up by the frontrunners.
The Football Deaf Australia team are very competitive and coached by Abbas Saad they are learning plenty from this experience.  Team Manager, Brian Seymour was enthusiastic saying ?This opportunity provided by Football NSW is fantastic and the guys are learning so much from the much faster and stronger opposition.  It really is a wonderful tournament and it has opened the door for us with other States now looking at what Football NSW have done for this team at Nowra this week.?
The highlight of the day at South Nowra was the appearance of ?Skippy? the kangaroo bounding along the sidelines.  There was even a suggestion he should have been given the flag!!
