Official: Charlie Yankos appointed Football NSW Director

On 21 February 2013, the Football NSW Board, having received the recommendation of the Nominations Committee under the Football NSW Constitution, resolved to appoint Yankos as an appointed Director with immediate effect.
“After so many years of playing the game I loved so much, I am excited about being involved as a Director of Football NSW. Hopefully I will be able to share my experiences as a footballer and more recently in the business world to help develop the game. We know that Football is the World game, and I’m looking forward to the prospect of working with other Directors and the football community to develop further opportunities for all participants” said Mr Yankos.
Football NSW Chairman Greg O’Rourke praised the appointment of the former Socceroos skipper to the Football NSW Board.
“We are delighted to welcome Mr Yankos to the Board” said Mr O’Rourke.
“We are convinced that his skills, experience and knowledge in both elite football and property development will complement the existing Directors and contribute to the continued growth and success of Football NSW going forward.”
Yankos’ football career needs no introduction. He has represented Australia at both Schoolboy and National team level. He played over 300 first grade games for 4 different National Soccer League teams, played 89 games for the Australian Socceroos (46 of those as Captain), played in 2 World Cup campaigns (1986 and 1990) and led the Socceroos into the quarter finals of the Seoul Olympics in 1988. In 1989 he moved to Greece to play professional football for PAOK Salonika in the Greek first division.
Yankos has received many rewards and recognition for his services to Soccer and in 1991 received the prestigious Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to Soccer and was also inducted to both the Soccer Australia Sports Hall of Fame and NSW Sports Hall of Champions.
During the past 25 years Yankos has worked with and held senior executive management positions with leading property fund managers including Westfield, Lend Lease Retail, AMP Shopping Centres, QIC Real Estate, Allco Finance Group and White Private.
He currently holds Real Estate and Business Agent Licenses and a Bachelor of Arts Degree specialising in Urban Studies along with successfully completing numerous leadership, performance and property investment management certificates.
He is also the Director and Licensee of a Private Real Estate company, All Property Agents formed in 1987 and has been operating as a real estate company since 2002.
