Working with kids seminars a success
As many as a thousand plus coaches and managers from across the state attended and gained valuable information on working with kids in the round ball game.
Being labeled as mandatory to attend for all Metropolitan League, Youth League and Women?s Arrive Alive League coaches and managers in NSW due to the strict new rules that have come out in working with kids, the seminars kicked-off in June last year and have gone from strength to strength.
Held at Football NSW?s headquarters at Parklea, two seminars were also conducted outside of the normal premises at Ryde Eastwood Leagues club as well as the Liverpool Catholic club.
The seminar is part of the Football NSW risk management strategy and education process which is designed to inform key people and individuals such as coaches and managers the primary responsibility in creating a positive and encouraging environment to ensure young players enjoy participation in football.
Codes of behavior have also been developed by the Australian Sports Commission and the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation through their Sports Rage Prevention Program and the Play By The Rules website.
The Codes of Conduct, Sports Rage Prevention Program and Play By The Rules are fully supported by Football NSW and are designed to remind over-zealous parents, coaches and spectators of the need to behave properly in the presence of junior players.
There were some familiar faces, many past Australian football stars and managers that attended the seminars from last June that included:
Gerry Gomez, Ante Juric, Tommy McCulloch, Walter Ardone, George Bouhoutsos, Leo Carle, Jane Talcevski, Jim Patikas, Robbie Stanton, Paul Carter, Ivan Petkovic and former Socceroo skipper Paul Wade to name a few
