Sutherland Sharks take on St George in Charity Game
With all proceeds going to the Sutherland Hospital and ?Relay for Life? Cancer Research, the match has been organised in light of the TeleChoice Premier League?s Easter long weekend break.
The main game is scheduled for a 4pm kick-off at the always reliable Seymour Shaw Park in Miranda with organisers stating that a hopeful huge crowd will be on hand in watching both clubs go head to head.
Brian Brown?s Sharks squad have been one of the more vibrant sides in the 2008 TeleChoice Premier League and they?ve stated that they will want to continue their successive trend with victory over rivals St George.
Star striker Brad Boardman, classy midfielders Shane Lyons, Brendan Gan, Jimmy Bakis, Nick Stavroulakis, David Huxley and quality defenders George Souris and Pedj Bojic as well as keeper Phillip Zabaks are just some of the quality stars the Sharks will show-off against St George.
St George, a former NSL giant, will be using the Sharks match as a good test prior to the Super League kicking off on the 29th of March where they will be taking on last season?s Super League Champions Bonnyrigg White Eagles at the Bonnyrigg Sports Club.
Coach John Calleja will be parading stars such as Nick Polimenakos, Goran Popovski, Trinity Allen, Mark Bariamis, Vince Savoca and young gun and the club?s 2007 top scorer Mitch Fihlebon who should face the Sharks in what will be an exciting clash.
St George skipper Simon Verrender will equally be up to the task as will three former Sutherland Sharks U20 players Elliot Barsby, David Wilson and James Rioseco, who will be out to prove more than a point against their former club.
One of Sutherland Sharks? most passionate and well known supporters George Hurley, who is also the Complex Manager at Seymour Shaw Park, was equally as delighted to have once again seen the Charity Challenge re-born once more.
?We are really looking forward to our Shire supporting the day and helping the young and old alike and we hope in our small way we can make someone else?s quality of life a little better.?
