Gough keen to play his part
By day Gough is a Technical Advisor for Winnebago building motorhomes and, at Marconi, he is used as an overlapping right-sided winger – a role he was converted to when attending the prestigious Westfields Sports High School a few years ago.
Gough is in his first season at Marconi after completing a two-year stint with Blacktown City Demons.
Prior to joining Blacktown he played four seasons – of which two were in the seniors – with Parramatta Eagles. He arrived at Parramatta via Bonnyrigg White Eagles after starting his junior career with Nepean.
?I love Marconi because the people here are good,? he proudly stated. ?The results haven?t come our way because you always want to win, but I?m learning a lot from guys like Vuko Tomasevic, Nahuel Arrarte and Luke Casserly.
?With those guys around, you are always going to learn something.
At training everyone is still working hard and the belief is still there so, in end, I think we?ll be right.
?You don?t win or lose the season in the first few rounds; I remember at Blacktown, we started slow and then we took out the Championship.?
Gough has already represented Australia at a Schoolboy level when he played in the national team that toured New Zealand in 2004.
However, he has his feet firmly planted on the ground and is not looking beyond the 2008 TeleChoice Premier League.
?On a personal note, I would like to get a full season of [TeleChoice] Premier League football under my belt,? he said rather modestly.
?As a junior I stated getting some good reviews and then I got a first grade contract, but now it?s first things first.
?Before you start looking overseas or at the A-League, you need to perform week in and week out in NSW.?
