Sydney FC to visit local NSW football clubs

rexy

Sydney FC players will spend time with the stars of tomorrow all over Sydney as the junior competitions are in full swing. The program will continue until the end of the junior season in August as Sydney FC tries to get to as many of the 650 junior football clubs in the greater Sydney area.
Players will visit clubs from the Southern District, Nepean, St George, Gladesville, Illawarra, Macarthur, Granville, Blacktown, Eastern Suburbs, Manly, Canterbury, Ku-ring-gai, Sutherland and Bankstown Associations in the initial four-week period.
Sydney FC players will attend the Harry Williams Cup, a Football NSW initiative to help promote football amongst the indigenous community, and the Centenary Cup, which is the Football NSW competition for U12 representative teams.
There will also be a public appearance at Pitt St Mall on Friday April 18 from 12noon to 2pm.
?It?s important that Sydney FC players spend as much time out in the football community as possible,? said Sydney FC CEO Stefan Kamasz. ?Sydney FC is a team for the people of Sydney and the junior players are the fans of today and the stars of tomorrow.
?Sydney is a massive area and we are increasing our resources to be able to get out to more clubs, associations and players and this is the start of a targeted approach to further engaging the people of Sydney.
?We are working hard with Football NSW to make sure we can reach out to the junior players, some of whom are already Sydney FC fans and others who have yet to be reached.?
Sydney FC players will return to pre-season training on Monday April 28 but will continue to visit the junior clubs through to the start of the Hyundai A-League in August.
