Vale- Terrence David Coates

FNSWportcolpos

Growing up in Rugby League mad Bankstown, Terry began playing football for St Pauls Bankstown in the Protestant Churches competition after his son took up the game.
Moving to Glenfield, Terry soon became involved with Macquarie Fields United Soccer Club. (Terry is credited with the name change to Fields United Sports Club and the securing of Blinman Oval).
Terry was Secretary for the club for over 15 years.
In this time he played a large part in the formation of the Macarthur District Soccer Football Association, being one if its original board members.
Terry worked hard for the local clubs and its players helping to set up Macarthur?s Youth League and State League teams so that local players had an avenue to display their talents.
Terry was also Macarthur?s representative to Southern Branch (SOUTHERN NSWASF) before sitting on the NSWASF board, spending countless hours away from home trying to improve the way football was run.
Terry?s passion for football also saw him venture into business when he started Ram Sports and was the official football supplier to Football NSW and the Matildas.
Terry was a crusader for football in the district, often taking on the battles with local council to improve facilities for all of its member players.
Terry kept a close eye on the goings on at MDSFA and the Macarthur Rams since moving to the south coast, but the most important thing to him was always the growth of football in the district and the standard of football being played by the children.
Terry will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Football NSW would like to send its deepest condolences to the Coates family.
