Futsal Winter State League Round 1 Review
The football NSW Futsal Winter State League competition kicked of last night at Sydney Olympic Park, with both men and women?s teams playing some brilliant games throughout the night with some surprising and expected results.
The opening game of the night saw the young Super League side Dural Warriors take on the very experienced Sydney City Eagles Premier League side. Dural were not phased by there opposition and went to a very surprising 2-0 lead early in the first half. Sydney City got one goal back just before the end of the first half too make it two one at the break, leaving Sydney City coach Roy Cowie to give his team a few stern words during the break of half time. It wasn?t until late in the second half that Sydney City drew level through Brooke Cowie. Full credit goes to the young Dural Warriors side who played well above there weight too share the points with Sydney City.
The next game of the night was the Mens game with the boys from Campbelltown Quake come up against Sydney Benfica. The Quake side lead by Futsalroo Simon Keith played there normal defensive and quick attacking game in the first half but were still unable too put the ball in the back of the net due too the great defense of Sydney Benfica. At the end of the first half the score was locked at nil all. Half way through the second half Quake took a 1-0 lead, not too be out done Benfica replied very quickly and took the score too one all. Five minutes later Quake took the lead again with a great goal by Dean lochardt. Benfica Stepped up straight away again and replied with an equalizer to make the score locked at 2-2. With four minutes remaining in the game Sydney Benfica Scored a well built up goal to put them in the lead and win them the game.
Later in the night a youthful Campbelltown Quake women?s side lead by a very experienced Amanda Bowering took on Inner West Allstars. The Quake girls ran right and took a lead of 3-0 at half time. In the second half Quake doubled there lead to easily outclass the Allstars 6-0. I am sure the Allstars will come back bigger and better next week.
