Player Interview with Marconi Stallions Captain Amanda Poulton
Amanda Poulton
Occupation: I work in Logistics with Pace Farm at Minchinbury.
Representative Honours: NSW Sapphires, Australian Schoolgirls
Which junior club did you play for?: Schofield/Riverstone. I started in the Under 11?s in a team with boys before moving on to girls? football when I was about 15.
Why football?: I used to play at primary school, just kicking the ball around the schoolyard at lunch time. A teacher saw me play, felt that I had some ability and encouraged me to join a team. So then I started playing on weekends.
Players you admire?: I love playing the game but I don?t really follow it. Therefore I don?t have a favourite team, player or anything like that. I did admire Julie Murray who was always a top level player. Everyone looked up to her.
Most respected opponent?: Alicia Cavanagh from NWS Koalas.
Interests outside of football?: I love rugby league! I?m a huge Roosters fan. I love to go to a game when I can, especially a Roosters game. I enjoy watching sport generally.
Favourite meal before a game?: A healthy sandwich.
Who would be your ideal dinner date?: Sonny Bill Williams. He?s definitely one of my favourite rugby league players.
Your favourite football memory?: Beating Macarthur Rams in a Grand Final a few years back. I was a striker in those days and scored two goals in the game. We came back from 0-2 down to beat Rams in extra time.
Teams to beat in the Arrive Alive NSW Womens Premier League?: NWS Koalas. We have a keen rivalry with them.
Thanks for your time today Amanda. A great win by The Stallions over the competition leaders, Macarthur Rams, last weekend. Good luck to you and the team for the rest of the 2008 season.
