Football Stars of Tomorrow Episode 7
JOSH BARTOLOTTO: Nine-year-old Josh Bartolotto first came to the attention of Football Stars of Tomorrow when his father Alfie sent in DVD for our Goal of the Week competition. Josh looked so impressive we decided to go and meet this talented young player who kicks around with the Gladesville Ravens Under 9s team in Sydney.
PAUL OKON: It felt like yesterday when ex-Socceroo captain Paul Okon first made a name for himself at the Marconi Stallions and then led the Young Socceroos to the 1991 World Youth Cup final in Portugal. Paul has retired from the elite level of the game after a journey which has taken him to the first division competitions in Belgium, Italy, England and Cyprus before returning home for one last season with the Newcastle Jets. Now “Paolo” is involved at the grass roots level of the game playing with the West Ryde Rovers Over 35s team in Sydney.
PAUL BENTVELZEN: “Dutchy”, as he is affectionately known, returns for more special coaching tips for players and coaches and there’s plenty there for everyone to enjoy.
BRADY SMITH: The advent of the new National Youth League later this year has opened the door for many talented young footballers to make a name in the game. Brady Smith is doing just that with the Central Coast Mariners and is part of their impressive Youth Academy. Brady recently played half a game for the Mariners in a trial match against the Central Coast Lightning but then ran out to play the other half for the Lightning. The FSOT cameras were there to catch all the action.
FOOTBALL RULZ: Recently appointed A-League official Kris Griffith Jones is one of Australia’s up and coming referees. This week, Kris explains another crucial rule of the game – free-kicks!!
GREG GIOVENALI: The name might not be familiar but Greg Giovenali is making a name for himself in the indoor game!! This 20yo Futsalroo has been playing Indoor Football professionally in Italy with the famous Lazio club in Rome and last year he almost won the National Championship.
MATCH OF THE ROUND: Can Sutherland maintain its amazing unbeaten run in the NSW Telechoice Premier League when the Sharks host Sydney Olympic in our main match from round 15? Sutherland coach Brian Brown has certainly turned the club right around and we find out if he can keep the momentum going.
