Kovas double sends Olympic through to the Tiger Turf Cup Quarter-Finals
Played in wet and blistery conditions on a wintery Wednesday evening at the Belmore Sports Ground, things looked to have gone the Demons way when Chris Bedzo opened the scoring with a neat finish via a wonderful chip over Blues keeper Michael Herbet just before half-time.
The Blues responded mid-way through the second half thanks to an equalising goal by Jordanian International Siraj Al-Tall.
Kovas then put Olympic in the lead after coming on as a substitute and scored a thunderbolt beyond Ivan Necevski.
With the win in sight for the Blues, the youthful Demons never gave up and were rewarded with their diligence just before the full-time whistle when Gavin Forbes sent the game into extra-time.
The man of the moment Kovas had the last laugh however as he notched up the winner which put Olympic into the next stages of the Tiger Turf Cup.
Due to wet weather conditions, a number of Tiger Turf Cup matches were postponed but as it stands, Sydney Olympic, Marconi Stallions and the Sutherland Shire Sharks are the three teams that have progressed towards the quarter-finals.
