Bonnyrigg White Eagles into Tiger Turf Cup Semi-Finals
Played at the Bonnyrigg Sports Centre, the game was decided with a 60th minute penalty which White Eagles? defensive midfielder Nikola Zonjic calmly slotted home much to the relief of the home fans.
Tigers coach John Romeo fielded a fairly strong outfit but were unable to break down the White Eagles defence and things were made even worse when A.P.I.A. played the final stages of the match with ten men.
The Eagles, who were minus players such as Goran Subara, Leo Carle, Tony Faria, Ilkay Gurbuz and David Petrovic, withstood the pressure of their TeleChoice Premier League rivals and advanced as the first team into the Tiger Turf Cup Semi-Finals.
Bonnyrigg White Eagles Club Secretary George Mandic was delighted with the club?s result that lifted them further to the Tiger Turf Cup Final.
?I am very pleased with how things went last night and I along with the club were very proud of the boys.
?The players knew that it was up to them to put in a good performance and achieve a positive result and they did just that.
?We?ll just have to wait and see what happens from here on in?.
