Liam Rose reaches for the Stars at the Mounties

For ease of transport and coaching during that year Liam played above his age with his older brother Matthew. The following year saw Liam play in his true age group which was the 7?s. This time he was joined by his younger brother Aaron keeping the close family ties that flow with the family.
Liam began to show speed and good basic football skills and some talent during that year. The returned the following year (2005), playing with the 8 Dingoes, his speed and skills becoming more evident at this time and his ability to read the game was also developing.
During these early years of non competitive soccer Liam was successful in achieving several major awards at the annual presentation days with the highlight being the Mini Player of the Year 2004. This award is selected from all players in the age groups of Under 5 to Under 8.
In 2006 Liam was part of the joint premiership winning team of the 9/2?s coached by Luke and Vanessa Barrett.  In this year Liam was awarded the clubs Junior Sportsman of the Year award.
Promotion of that team to Division 1 for the 2007 season led to Liam?s ability being noticed and he was selected for Mounties inaugural under 10?s Development Academy Squad.
Also during that year, Liam, after selection trials, began additional intensive development of his soccer skills at the IQ academy operating out of Bossley Park High School.  Late in 2007 Liam trialled for Southern Districts, Under 11 Reprasentive team and was eventually successful in gaining selection for that team and also named Vice Captain.
He has played soccer for Southern Districts for all of 2008 so far, missing only one game through injury and playing full games in all matches to date.
Liam was also successful in being selected in the Metro South squad for the State Championships during April 2008.  These games will be held at Nowra during the first week of July this year.
After a few rounds in the Under 11 Metro league in 2008 Liam was invited by Football NSW High Performance Unit, to trial for an 11 year old side to tour Japan during September 2008.
He was successful in being selected for this squad and is very appreciative with the assistance that The Mounties Group has provided to enable his attendance on the two week tour of Japan.
The special grant of $5,500.00 enables Liam to have his expenses for flights, transfers, accomodation, uniforms along with the access to coaching and matches from Japan?s J-League Academies and Youth J-League teams. This soccer and cultural exposure from such a trip is invaluable in a persons development. Thank you.
Along with Liam?s development as a soccer player, he has also demonstrated some talent in a range of other sports. His athletic ability in a range of school sports has seen him represent his school for PSSA sporting teams including soccer, softball, cricket, touch football and oz-tag.
He has made the following school sports teams:
Regional Swimming: 2006, 2007, 2008
Regional Cross country: 2006, 2007, 2008
Regional Soccer: 2007, 2008
Regional Basketball: 2007, 2008
State touch football: 2007, 2008
State athletics (100m): 2005, 2006, 2007
Whilst attending Mount Pritchard East Public School he was awarded the Junior Sportsman of the Year in 2005 and 2006 and also the Reba Meagher (Local M.P) Achievement Award for Sport in 2006.
In 2007 he was awarded the Senior Sportsman of the Year award at MPE. Outside school he was selected to play in the 2008 Oz-tag state Cup competition.
Suffice to say Liam Rose is a name to watch out for in the future, at the tender age of 11 he has achieved and excelled in his sporting exploits over his few years, but along with these achievements he has also grown as a person and is the first to help out his family and maintains an excellent attitude and manner of politeness.
