2008 Friendship Games commence at Valentine Sports Park

It is an annual event that Football NSW hosts at Valentine Sports Park, Football NSW’s headquarters in Sydney.
The Friendship Games features the best age group players across Australia, representing their respective States and Territories.
Two age groups will feature in the Friendship games which will see the U13 Boys and U14 Girls compete in their respective age groups.
State teams raging from Victoria Metro, Victoria Country, South Australia, CFA Helix, NSW Metro, NSW Country, and the South Australian Women?s Soccer Association will all feature in this magnificent tournament.
The ethos behind the Friendship Games is to foster a pressure free atmosphere for the players which enables them to perform at their peak in a tournament comprising the best age group players within Australia.
As such results are not tabulated, nor a final conducted. This acts as an introduction to the higher pressure events the players will face in the upcoming years.
The Friendship Games also offers team coaches the opportunity to see which of their players rise to the challenge of playing against the best opposition.
They also have the opportunity to interact with other State and Territory Team Coaches.
Football NSW President Jim Forrest was delighted to have the Friendship Games kick start at VSP this week.
?It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2008 Friendship Games for Under 13 Boys and Under 14 Girls and to Valentine Sports Park, the home of Football NSW.
?An equally warm welcome is extended also to coaches, referees, team officials and supporters to VSP.
?I sincerely hope you all enjoy your time here.
“The Friendship Games were introduced a number of years ago to fill a gap at the national level in these age groups, which were no longer incorporated into the National Titles because of changing requirements for the various age groups, boys and girls.”
