The versatile attacker was in high demand, but resisted an approach from the Central Coast Mariners to take his place in the Sydney side.
?I really love the club, they?re my home club, I went to a few of the Youth Team trials and they were really professional, so yeah, Sydney was the best option for me,? Gan explained.
Gan has been a standout for Sutherland in this-year?s TeleChoice Premier League competition, and put in a strong showing in the Sharks? recent friendly win against Sydney FC.
He hopes to use the National Youth League as a launching pad to chase his goal of becoming a full-time professional footballer.
?That?s what my dream is, to play football for a living, so hopefully this is the first step towards that goal.?
FC has also secured the signature of Sydney United goalkeeper, Vedran Janjetovic.
The 21 year custodian has a long association with Sydney FC, and is looking forward to standing between the posts for Sydney in year one of the National Youth League.
?It feels like another step up for me, I?ve trained and played with Sydney before, but it really feels good to be part of the team officially, and I just want to get out there.?
With two important positions now filled and more signings on the way, Sydney FC Youth coach, Steve O?Connor believes he?ll have a strong side at his disposal.
?The level of talent on show at our trials was impressive, and as a result we?re well on the way to putting a very strong team together,? said O?Connor.  ?These kids are the future for the club, and I think we?re in for a good first season.?
The National Youth League kicks off on September 26.
Sydney FC?s youth team has a first round bye and will begin its campaign against the Queensland Roar on October 4.
