Conference League Northern Round 15 Review

Forsberg (15th) and Woodbridge (29th) put the home side 2-0 up at the break, and they continued on their merry way in the second period, scoring a further four goals. Woodbridge grabbed his second on 49 minutes, Aldrick scored a brace (54th and 65th), and Cohen rounded off the match with the last goal on 77 minutes.
Hawkesbury City put the pressure on second placed Roosters with a tight 1-0 home win over the stubborn Springwood. The Saturday evening fixture at Benson Lane Field was decided by Sluiter, scoring the all important goal in the 27th minute for the Hawks.
Roosters FC felt the pressure indeed on Sunday, conceding a late equaliser to draw 2-2 at Mona Park against Bathurst ?75. Dowling gave Bathurst the lead with a goal on 21 minutes, before Rashid equalized for the home side in the 30th minute. Sevgin sent the home fans into a frenzy with his goal on 59 minutes, but Rooke snatched a late point for the visitors when he scored a minute before the end. Even though they were hoping for a win, the draw was enough to keep the Roosters second on the ladder, one solitary point ahead of Hawkesbury.
In the final match of the round, Gladesville Ryde Magic and Prospect United drew 0-0 at Magdala Park. The draw has kept Magic in 4th place, whilst Prospect remain in 7th position on the ladder.
Balmain had the week off courtesy of the bye, and the rest will have done them no harm ahead of their huge game next week versus Hawkesbury, to be played Saturday at Birchgrove Oval, kicking off at 3pm.
